This semi-weekly topic from
hive-learners actually took me back to my childhood days. When thinking of what to write on, I had to settle down to do a mental recalling of all the lovely tv shows I enjoyed as a kid. Picking a particular one was hard because Thinking about it now that I am grown.
The current generation have laptops and phones and iPads to keep them busy now but back then, we had just tv and the watching the shows and movies from tv was everything to us. Thinking about it now, Most homes did not even own tv of their own. Most times you even have the extra fun of having your neighbor kids come over to the house and we would a watch these shows/movies together.
I really did have some interesting times and tv shows back then.
As the last child I had the tv to myself when my siblings were away and so I had lots of interesting kids shows to watch.
But from all the one I remember, I still very much enjoy even till now - RUGRATS
Even typing this now I still remember the theme song for the show. It’s still fresh in my memory.
The rugrats was an animated American tv series premiered on the 11th of August 1991, just a few years before I was born. But I still got to Enjoy it greatly.
The kids tv series story was told from babies point of view where everything looked bigger ,uncontrollable and mysterious to them, and that made it all so relatable too, Their day-to-day lives, which usually involving real life experiences that become adventures in their imaginations, and adults who mostly had no clue about anything.(Lol).
There was Tommy pickels and his best friend chukkie whose parents often dropped him off at Tommy’s house for play dates. And there was Angelica pickles who was Tommy’s elder sister, she enjoyed terrorizing Tommy and his friends and her little baby cousins, her favorite catch phrase for them was ‘you stupid babies’ she would scream at them.

It was full of comedy, adventure, and imaginations. I remembered then we watched it on cable, it was one of the very first things I got to watch on cable as a child, it was shown on Nickelodeon. If you knew the times of 90’s having cable wasn’t really common and those that had it were big people oo. I still remember the joy we felt when my dad brought home the very big dish and set it up (Lol)
Rugrats show was one of the series I really enjoyed watching amongst others and even till date I still stroll sometimes to find it on YouTube to watch.
I like to remind myself of what it felt like then when I was so young.
Now adays the animated tv shows and programs do not seem to be as thoughtful and well scripted as the ones we were opportuned to watch back then. There was always a thing or two to learn from every show or movie.
