First of all, things weren't all rosey back then for my parents so I kinda grew up with the spirit of hustling and bustling. It wasn't really an easy journey to be able to make funds for some certain needs in the house.
Knowing all this I started doing some little things at a more early stage well not because I wanted to get appraisal from people but because I knew how the country was and saw how things were really difficult for us back then.
I didn't really do much that is probably because I was still young and my parents weren't really cool with the idea of letting their kids do some menial hustling. So I started working when I graduated from secondary that was around (2015) I was still a young lad.
My first job was as a lesson home teacher I taught a little group of kids at home, it started with helping them with their homework but I wasn't getting much as a pay, and most of the pay ended as feeding allowance and then I had very little to save. Even at this time there were things I always wanted to get for myself but I couldn't because I didn't have enough savings to buy them or I might end up spending all my savings just to get them.
Well after some time I got a teaching job in a private school, this was like the real deal, the pay was good for me I even had enough to save after making some expenses. It wasn't really an easy task, at that young age teaching and guilding some group of kids that can be stubborn and annoying when they want to.
Seeing how most of my friends stayed back at home or do other petty stuff than teaching because it wasn't a lazy man kind of work, but I still decided not to quit because I later came to realize that there will be a time where I won't be able to ask my parents for some certain kind of things, then I will have to take care of those needs myself then.
The first self item I got for myself was a smart phone, though I had saved up to get a phone but it wasn't really enough so I got some assistance from my big bro.
But after a while I stopped teaching because I had to leave home and go stay with my aunty at a different location. There I got another job at a supermarket and that was when I got my first major self purchase something I have always wanted aside from a smart phone.

It's was on my birthday, so I gifted myself with a complete set of make-up kit I had no help or support from anyone I literally made all the payment myself, down to the home delivery.
It was really helpful because I had just enrolled in an online make up class, so it made learning quite easy for me.
Ever since, I have been working, not giving up and being consistent and I have also been able to buy and pay for a lot of other things that has turned out to be really important to me in so many ways.
I laughed so hard at this.
It's so true. Teaching kids is not so easy but it's a fulfilling task. And, the bond!!!
You've been able to get yourself some really nice stuff. First a phone, then a complete makeup kit. Just wow!
I'm guessing you're a pro at makeup already, right?
Growing into an adult you will realize there's more to life than just staying at home, it's not easy.
