Giving a helping hand is one of the best gifts so far, and luckily for me it's something I enjoy doing because at the end I'm trying to make a particular thing easy for someone.
But you see most people finds it difficult sacrificing their time or help to something if there will be nothing to get in return. Forgetting that volunteering to do something has to be of a good will without expecting anything in return as a gift or otherwise.
We should know that putting a smile on someone else's face should be enough gift for a good will done.
I can remember several situations where I give out my help willingly even when there are times it not really convenient for me, but just for the purpose of being helpful and easing the burden of others.because I have always being a too fan putting a smile on someone's face either the old or young.
Also there are times I don't even realize that am engaging in a volunteer service, because it's now somehow slowly becoming a part of my daily activities that's because I'm a fan of doing good and making others happy.
I remember a story of a colleague, when I was newly introduced into a marketing and promo job. This was one of my worst jobs back then but it had a very good pay.
The work comes with a lot of stress, you have to be bold, friendly, outspoken and be able to tolerate others just to get what you want.
So going back to colleague, we were both new to the work, we were always moving together to make sales and get orders. Then there was a day, I was called to a different location making my colleague and I not to work together for that day, she had to tag along with someone else. According to her that day was the worst sales day she has ever had because she didn't make much sales, she was even scolded by our boss and she wasn't paid fully on that day.
The next day was worst than the previous, she hadn't made any sales at all when she called I could literally hear the sadness in her voice I felt so bad for her that I had come down to where she was because I felt she needed an helping hand or she might loss her job that day, so I had to take a bus down to where she was.
When I sighted her from afar with her products she was looking so confused, and frustrated I had no choice than to help her make little sales or else she might loss the job and it will be given to someone else. Though it was quite challenging because I was already tired from my day activities and also she had a high target to meet, but we did our best and I can still remember the wide smile on her face when she got her pay, she was fully paid and it felt so heart warming to see her look so happy and alive.
I hope to engage more in other community volunteering service because I feel I will really do a great job.
Nice write up
I for one know how stressful these kind of jobs can be, especially the ones where you have to meet targets. You would worry yourself to your bone, wondering how you will sell enough. What you did for your friend was really good. You did well.
