Child bearing is one of those things God has commanded man to do and this can be seen when God said in the scripture that, “ be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth.” So, this assertion showed us that child bearing is from God and that it's being from the ages past.
So, giving birth to children is to replenish the earth and also, to make the human race to be in existence and not in extinction and for this reason, the human race will always continue to exist as long as the child's bearing continues.
So, seeing the topic of the prompt, which is about surrogacy, I was so disturbed by the complexity of the word surrogacy and this is because of what it entails.
The word surrogacy which is about giving birth but in another form which is different from the normal way which we are all accustomed to has to do with a third party carrying pregnancy for intended parents. This third party used to be a woman or female by gender.
This said woman according to what the surrogate means would be the one to carry the pregnancy via any means which could have been used to impregnate her. And after the delivery she would hand over the child to the intended parents and in most cases disappear after the deal has been met by both parties.
In most cases, those people that carry the pregnancy get paid for the job done by them, not only this, majority of the people now engaged in surrogacy. Though, it's meant to help those couples that are infertile enough to give birth and have a child or children of their own, but these days, people have deviated from the main purpose being served by the word surrogacy.
Also, people are becoming lazy to have children of their own. I have seen people that are fertile and still opted for surrogacy. There's even a woman that said because of her maintaining her body shape, she would prefer going for the system, which to me is a very bad thought from a woman who's meant to give birth and have strong connection with her child.
Though, we might say it's used in helping those parents that are infertile to give birth, but to me, I still believe there other means that are good and tenable when it comes to having children instead of going for surrogacy that may at the end have this adverse effect on the family and even the entire society if not properly checked. So, like I said before, instead of going for surrogacy, I still believe parents who are looking for the fruit of the womb but couldn't get it because of their infertile can still toll the path of adopting a child from the orphanage home instead of going for surrogacy. Though, adopting a child from the orphanage's home might follow a due and legal process which is normal, but it's the best way of having a child.
Though, surrogacy has also been legalised in some countries, but some are against it and I'm not even saying it's not good, but one thing is that it should be left to serving it purpose if need be, but the only concern is that, there's this belief that there's always a strong connection between a mother that carries pregnancy and the child given birth to, so, if surrogacy is now the other of the day, how would family relationships turn out to be in the nearest future.
Though, people have tried it and can testify to its goodness, but as for me, there's no way I would go for surrogacy in my life no matter what the case may be. Though I have my kids, even aside from that, I can't go for it.
