THE OPPOSITE OF FAITH

Fear is crippling, it is an unpleasant feeling, brought about by a seen danger. It's the exact opposite of faith. Fear is believing in the ability of the adversary to cause you harm. Though in my case, the adversary here was not a person but a thing --my departmental course's exam in the second semester of my first year in the University.

There were times when I've been scared in the past but thing particular incident stood out for me the most because of what the risks were and of the victory I had at the end.

Initially in my department, we were required to offer a departmental course in our first year second semester and for the sake of this, my course reps made all the enquires to be sure we were offering it and the materials required but the department said the course was not for us. It wasn't until 3 weeks to our exam time that information came from the department that it was compulsory which wasn't the right thing to do from their end but that's how our Nigerian universities can be some times.

The course was a very tasky one that had a lot of practical dissection classes which I successfully scaled through but the main horror was on the day of the exam.

My course reps didn't leave any prior information as to which day we were sitting for the exams until the exact day of the exam when one of them sent a message to our department WhatsApp group that the exam was by 9am that same day.

I went about my activities without a care in the world when I just felt like checking our WhatsApp platform and Isaw the message they sent without even indicating that it was Urgent & Important but sent it like an ordinary message.

At this point, I was so furious and a little confused about what to do, then fear started setting in. I was thinking of the carry over I could have if I didn't do well in the course and how that could bring down my CGPA. 1 full hour had gone and as though that wasn't enough, it began raining heavily! Now I was so scared.

I waited for the rain to stop a little and journeyed for 20minutes to the exam hall that was now empty, the exam had ended.

The Course Lecturer was there with whom I pleaded with to let me write then explained to him my ordeal. At first he felt I was unserious later let me wrote for just 30mins after he saw my determination..

I had a lot a fear & uncertainties in my heart as I wrote but God assured me of my victory in it and that gave me strength and comfort.

Few months later when I was in my second year, I went to checked the results and to my surprise, I had a whopping B in that course when a lot of my coursemates didn't do well in.

I learnt one thing that day: Don't ever let fear or worry take a hold of you and make you believe things that do not have the power over you. Stay bold and resilient always.

Tilll next time lovelies...Keep believing

Very correct, if you allow fear to take hold of you, it will suck you of all the joy in the moment and you won't be able to enjoy life. Just worrying throughout.
I'm glad you succeeded in the end.

Thank you for sharing this with us.
