Greetings hivians, hope we're all doing okay, it's another edition of the Hive Learners community contest and this week contest happened to be a very interesting one, talking about what served as a turning point in my life and ever since then made a better person.
Hmm... I have so many achievements and I believe so is everyone else but due to the instruction of the contest I would only share the greatest of them all.
After my tertiary education and my one year service as a corper I have been working my ass out to secure a good job. All the jobs I do see is private school teaching, but because I had no better option I have to accept it and hope for the better.
Anyways, I like teaching because with it I would know more, develop future leaders and also have time to do other things but not like a private school teacher, a private school especially in my dear country Nigeria would use you like anything, I always get exhausted anytime I come back from work. I won't be able to do anything again, this made me to keep my eyes wide open and always praying to God for a better job or a government teaching job.
After some time I heard about TESCOM, it's the government teaching job I was looking for, I quickly applied without wasting time. But deep down in my mind I was not sure if I would secure the job because anything in Nigeria is usually gotten with a long leg i.e those that has connections to the top are the favourites, the case was different with me as I do not have anyone to help me process the work. I was only looking up to God. When it was time for examination I tried my best and thank God my score was above the cut off mark (first step).
All those that were not able to meet the cut off mark were not shortlisted, and the the time for interview came and we were to do micro - teaching, I also did my best and luckily for me I was selected (second step).
Nevertheless, there were people with Masters degree, some with higher grades, some had connections but were not picked. It was just God and my little effort that made it happen. I was so happy, it was a dream come true for me.
In fact I can remember that I took myself out for a nice treat.
So ever since then I have become a better person, not by my strength though but by God's grace. And with that experience I believe noting is impossible.

I know how private schools are, they can use you for the pay they would be giving you and at the end, you get home so exhausted. I also would want to work in a government school because I love teaching. It's my passion.

Wow...I am sure you are very proud of this particular achievement. Anyone in Nigeria knows that it's not always easy to secure a government job but here you are amidst all the applicants.
