If you are a resident of Lhokseumawe city, of course you are no stranger to one of the areas or fishing villages located on the south side of this city, or to be precise in the Pusong Lama village area of Lhokseumawe Aceh Indonesia, or located at the very end of the coastal city of Lhokseumawe.
What's in that area? So that many city residents and also residents of other sub-districts often visit the area.
Basically, there are many amazing things in the area, of course in all fields, be it the economy, local tourist destinations, locations of wild habitats, and several other things that are often enjoyed by urban communities and even people outside the district, or people who live outside the area.
So in any case, I will share with you here, about an extraordinary thing, looks trivial but amazing in the end.
This relates to the economy of the community itself, which has different professions, their respective expertise or activities in their profession in everyday life and is closely related to the economy.
If you look deeper into this, it turns out that in the fishing village area there has been a very great economic turnaround in the capacity of a small town that is able to supply inputs for the needs of the community in their daily lives.
The economic cycle in reviving the economic atmosphere of the community is in the marine sector, it turns out that the results obtained from day to day reach terrible numbers, here are some activities that are seen in their daily lives.
Based on my own research and in collaboration with one of the traditional stakeholders in the marine sector, Panglima Laôt Kota (marine customary institution), it is said that this village has hundreds of fishing boats and active wooden boats, among others.
1. Big Wooden Ship
Have a large wooden boat measuring 20 meters long and 6 meters wide (breaking boats) of 450 units, and bringing home the catch from each unit of approximately 50 tons of big fish in one day.
2. Medium Wooden Ship
To this day, the village has 500 units of medium wooden boats that are currently active, while the catch is medium fish playing in shallow and deep waters an average of 500 kilos of reef fish, if 500X500 is calculated, the result is 250,000 kilos at a price of around 45 thousand rupiah maximum.
3. Small wooden boat (net boat)
Small wooden boats that have this main engine (seen in the picture), have the highest number of them, their presence in this village area, reaching around 730 units operating in the marine area of Lhokseumawe city. They are fishermen of the lowest caste but have satisfying ones, on average they bring in catches of around 209-500 kilos of reef fish, which are quite expensive in their daily life.
With manual calculations, it is certain that the catches of fishermen in the village area reach hundreds of millions per day, sometimes if the fish produced reaches 1 billion, the economic turnover of the fishermen here and the results can be said to be extraordinary.
Coincidentally, this afternoon, I was in the area, and saw one of the small wooden boats with manual engines with simple fishing tools anchored at the edge of the village. This fisherman had just returned from his daily fishing operation.

This is today's activity with the fishermen of Pusong Lama village, Lhokseumawe Aceh, who are very friendly with every visitor, even they are very happy to be photographed and tell their lives in every media.
