I've been finding it difficult to classify myself in one of these because it seems to me that I have been applying both of them in my daily life activities.
Book smart entails harnessing knowledge from the various books we read.....
Street smart entails gaining experiences to face the real life difficulties outside the four walls of schools......
For myself, I think I am the street smart guy that applies it anywhere possible bearing in mind the knowledge I got from books also (book smart).
Here Is A Story To Make You Understand Better.
Remember the story I told few weeks ago about how the PES/FIFA game I installed in my laptop distracted me a lot and took most of my hours only for me to realise few weeks to the exam that I've been whiling away my time and I still needed to pass the exam and to the glory of God, I did pass that exam but what you didn't know was how I passed it.
Here is it
No matter how fast I read, I couldn't have covered the whole topics required of me just within few weeks to the exams so how exactly did I do it?
That's where the street smart In me came in, lol.
I was taught by professors and B.SC holders in anatomy, Physiology and biochemistry( the courses I was offering then.
Bearing in mind I can't read the whole topics expected of me because of the short time I have, I went to the course outline and selected the topics taught by Professors, I placed them first on the list before selecting the ones taught by other lecturers.
The catch here was that there is hierarchy is street if you want to do well, hehehe.
You have to learn from the best and so, the Professors here where the best we are talking about.
They obviously would provide questions first before every other lecturers.
If I could get the answers to the questions of the professors, I was already passing, I said to myself.
I finished reading the topics of the professors but couldn't read that of other lecturers.
The booksmart aspect of me helped me understand these topics, I checked past questions on the various topics and tested myself.
When we entered for the Examination hall, lo and behold! The topics taught by the professors made 70% of the questions and the remaining 30% were coming from other lecturers.
I answered atleast 60% of the 70% that came from the professors comfortably and then kept racking my brain to remember any helpful thing to guide my answer to the 30% because even though I didn't read them, I still went for the classes so there was something in there (my brain) that I just needed to stimulate, hehehe.
While the booksmart guys were taking the topics one after the other and couldn't finish everything on time, with the method I used, I covered the necessary ones.
I do have a parting question though,
Don't you think Book Smart and Street Smart go hand in hand?
This is because if you are just book smart, the street will "swallow" you when you leave the four walls of school and if you are street smart alone, the smarter guys will use you as defence when situations hit up but if You Have A Little Of This And A Little Of That, you can easily survive.
Get the knowledge from books and get the experience from the streets, merge them together and you will be invisible.
Thanks for reading through 👍
I love the way you break everything down bit by bit. I think I agree with you that book smart and streetsmart goes hand in hand especially in a wicked world like ours. If the only thing one is holding unto is what he/she learnt in school, then sorry for that person because he/she would not be able to survive in the world of reality.
How you studied and passed that exam was a miracle, I call it the Wisdom is profitable to direct approach, some individuals fail exams not because they didn't study enough, but because they over studied and got theirselves confused. Whether we like it or not, it is not every topic that will come out in exams, funny enough some lecturers can even make emphasis on those topics that will come out but certain individuals who feel they are readers will still read all get frustrated and still fail..
😅😅😅
This is Nigeria indeed...
Booksmart alone will definitely deal with you, you really have to mix things up else you will suffer.
It was a miracle honestly because what if the professors were busy and decided to leave the exam for the junior lecturers to set but I'm glad it paid off anyway.
It was worth the try rather than doing anything
You've checked your Discord?
Yo!!! To survive down here, you have to be smart in Evey sphere of life.
Seriously, it was just God... You need to do a special thanksgiving unto God for that...

You na my boss na.. you want whine me ne?
I agree with you that it has to be the combination of both relying on one of them alone won't be enough to survive all hemisphere of life.
That's true... A Balance in both will be much appreciated
Very impressive, we don't have to lean on just one side indeed because they are both important to be a book smart and a street smart just like you said, learn from the book and experience from the street.
Exactly 😅😅😅
It will help you direct your experiences in a credible way in the future

My so nwa is dissecting the papers with his street and book smartness. I love your way..I loved how you demonstrated Ur smartness in attending to your papers. The truth is that both aspects of smartness is needed by everyone to survive in our world today. I have seen intelligent people who were cheated out there because there aren't street smart..so yes, both is a nice combo to adopt

Education, in general, only teaches you what you need to continue, but as you explain, in the world there are much more and more complex things. You learn more outside of school, and you have a whole world of possibilities to know a lot of things thanks to this digital era we are living in. It's a wonderful thing, although it's also dangerous, all this explosion of information.
That's true especially when the information are not managed properly..
