Giving Back To Humanity Through Medical Outreaches

in Hive Learners4 days ago (edited)

It's been a hell of a few days these past weeks due to my recent relocation to the South- western part of the country. But like Naira Marley said after when he returned - I'm bacckk!!! Lol.

Volunteering in the world of today seems like something almost impossible at all and this is because currently there's a price attached to everything you can think of, so to say that even when you genuinely do something out of goodwill for another person, some persons might see you as a fool for doing it for free.
This wasn't always the case in the past, but what can you say? It's where we are today.

Nevertheless, there's still this great joy that comes from volunteering that's unmatched with any joy especially seeing the happiness you've left in the faces of people you've helped.

Personally, I've always been a passionate lover of medical outreaches. Medical outreach is one of the greatest volunteering work people in the health field engage in. It is a programme that involves health consultation at the doorstep of patients; I said this because unlike the traditional system where patients visit hospitals to book appointment and see the doctor, medical outreaches bring the healthcare services directly to the people in need, often in rural areas.
Depending on the finance brought out for the outreach will determine if there will be available drugs or not but one thing you're sure of is consultation and prescription of drugs.

I've been attending lots of medical outreaches because that is the only way I give back to the society using my health knowledge. The last one I participated in was in December 2024.

I was still at home when a friend of mine reached out to me asking if I could be available to help him out in an upcoming outreach his local government chairman was preparing for her citizens. I gladly accepted and on the D-day, we were faced with a larger crowd than expected.

At first, I was overwhelmed wondering if just the two of us would be able to manage those big numbers but that's the beauty of volunteering services. *With every grateful smile each patient left the consulting room, blessings and prayers they say to you, you just becomes rekindled to see the next person and the cycle continues that you wouldn't even know when you've attended to all of them.

If there was anything I've learnt from the series of outreaches I've attended, it's the fact that people really need medical services in all nooks and crannies of the country but just very few could afford it, hence, if the government could actually take it as a duty to make the various primary health centres active and also organise these outreaches once in a while for our people, it will really be a great thing because health is one of the greatest areas a nation can invest in.

Just like the word goes, volunteering, it means you're not paying for what you're receiving but that doesn't mean it wasn't handsomely paid for by the organisers. That is why I remain committed to answering the calls of participation whenever needed.
For now, I may not know when next I will participate but certainly, whenever the call comes up, I'll gladly answer as my own quota of contributing and giving back to humanity.

This sounds like a very noble cause. Initiatives like these will help make healthcare more equitable in terms of access, especially for people in underserved communities. You're doing good, man. Respect.

It's very great for real... Whenever we finish a location, it's always a joyous thing not to use alone but to the villagers too

God bless your kind heart, truly, a lot of people are going through some health challenges that need a doctor's check-up, but the lack of finances restrains them, outreach like this is a good way to reach out to them.

That's very true... May God bless us all
