Transportation has been in existence since the dawn of humans evolution, and over the years humans have been gradually evolving with the means they do it .
From the days of trekking and horse riding to the evolvement of cars, ships and airplanes, but as always evolution comes with both advantages and disadvantages.
In today's topic, we are faced with the question of what we think restricting families to a single car just to curtail the environmental hazards like carbon emissions.
Without thinking deep into the impacts it will make, you might be fast enough to pick a yes and pass the bill into law at first glance. But does it really solve a problem doing that or does it create more problems?
But let's actually see what we have to gain or lose in doing these things
On Aspect Of Transportation
Cars make transportation easy which invariably helps us in time management and that is the basic thing we need cars for.
In a family of four for instance, if they're restricted to just one car, imagine a scenario where the dad has got work to go, the mum wants to get to the market and the one of the children have a good interview to attend- all at the same time.
Who leaves the car for who?
On Aspect Of Environmental Impact
For a while now, the ozone layer depletion and climate change has been a topic of concern with scientists saying we're going on speed depleting them with our day-to-day activities and that includes deforestation and burning, fossil fuels and excessive car use being major contrubutors.
Families having one car will help reduce these carbon emissions and further save our ozone layers.
This will also help reduce loads of traffic people get to experience while using the road. Less cars means less demands for fossil fuels too which will help conserve our natural resources.
On Economic Impact
This might be beneficial in the sense that families will make less expenses in car-related expenses such as maintenance and repairs but, this also means that workers in automobile industries would now be faced with lay offs because the number of cars to repair will drastically reduce with implementing one car per family.
Also, the companies producing cars and other automobile parts will definitely face a lot of hardships because there wouldn't be any need to produce varieties of cars since a family that already bought one would have to sell that one to be able to get another one.
On Innovation Impact
This will also affect our innovative mindset. Engineers keep racking their brains to produce lots of cars because they are sure that when it captures the eyes of many persons who of course already have cars, they will still love an upgrade. However, with families restricted to one car, the incentive to innovate would diminish, as manufacturers would have to wait for families to sell of their existing cars before introducing new models else it will be a wasted effort.
In summary, this is a thoughtful idea but it stands in a big way of making life harder for humans especially with big families and workers, so, unless the hardship that comes with it arre addressed, it's not a good one.
The unemployment in Nigeria is already high to make people lose jobs with this rule.
Thanks for reading and have a nice day ahead 👍

The cons outnumber the pros. Yes, the rule would help in reducing some of the environmental hazards. But we need to consider the effect that this rule would have on human life. Except there's an alternative way to cushion the effect, it makes no sense.
For real, I was just thinking about it as I was writing this post and for real, it shouldn't even see the light of the day because it's basically creating more problems than solving one
Yes, I believe life would become hard in a way because ppl would be restricted but what about the good part where people become more physical fit, if they decide to trek short distances eh ?
What about the long distances? And what about clash of activities?
I think there are better ways we can get physically fit without compromising the little ease off we enjoy
Hmmmm no point for arguement here . Totally understand
