Nothing worth having comes easy.

These days access to knowledge is pretty easy. The digital age has made accessing information and learning new skills much more accessible than ever before. Today, knowledge can be gained through a variety of online course. The modern way of accessing knowledge primarily involves using online platforms and digital tools like search engines (like Google), online libraries, educational websites, social media, podcasts, online courses, and streaming services. People can access vast area of knowledge mere seating at the comfort of home. Be it studying, cooking, dancing, art etc. But how effectively we can implement these knowledge in life is the question to ask.

I do not have a science background, but still I learned many science concepts through practical application.

A candle flame consumes oxygen from the air to burn, and when covered with a glass, the limited oxygen inside is quickly used up, causing the flame to go out.

light travels faster than sound, by mere watching a firecracker bursting in sky

the concept of electrostatic attraction. Rubbing the ruler on a material like hair or cloth creates a static charge on the ruler, which then attracts nearby neutral particles.

All these and many other experiments were part of our playing days. It was fun to apply science in our day to day learning. I easily understood different law of science mere looking and ocassionally taking part in my brother's experiment at home. But such things were not seen in these day, as people are more habitual and dependent upon easy access of knowledge.

Even at hive, many users have mastered themselves into canvas thumbnail art or editing video. No body is born professional, they have learned these skills either through watching online instruction or accessing differrnt tools. At times when the world is divided between chatgpt and deepseek , I alwsys wonder how much effective these learning could be in real life. I remember my Dad alwsys used to tell me the struggle they had faced in accessing knowledge in their time. From traveling to far away school on foot to taking private coaching early wee hours. They have gained much knowledge in their time, as they applied some theoritical learning into practical aspect.

Modern knowledge base

While easy access to knowledge, like through the internet, can potentially make us more knowledgeable by providing readily available information, it doesn't necessarily guarantee it. The key is how we engage with that information and our ability to critically evaluate its quality, meaning easy access alone doesn't equate to deep understanding and true knowledge, and can sometimes even create an illusion of knowing more than we actually do.

With vast amounts of information readily available and easily accesible, it can be difficult to filter and prioritize the most relevant and reliable sources. Simply getting access to so many information does not automatically translate to the ability to analyze, synthesize, and apply that knowledge effectively. Moreover, the internet is rife with inaccurate or biased information, which can lead to misunderstandings if not properly evaluated. We cannot simply rely on the theoritical aspect or mere watching online videos.

Theoritical vs Practical

In my opinion, "doing" something provides a more comprehensive learning experience compared to simply reading or studying about it. Practical knowledge is often considered better than theoretical knowledge because it allows for a deeper understanding through hands-on experience, enabling individuals to apply concepts in real-world situations, adapt to unforeseen challenges, and develop problem-solving skills that may not be fully captured in theory alone. It is important to remember that both theoretical and practical knowledge are crucial for holistic understanding. Theory provides the foundation and framework while practice allows for its effective application. This is mostly missing while we rely on online learning.

Therefore, while easy access to knowledge can be a powerful tool for learning, it is crucial to develop critical thinking skills to effectively utilize that information and become truly knowledgeable.

In good faith - Peace!

Theoretical knowledge is not enough and my when it comes to practical aspects especially when it is related to medicine online learning doesn't replace that.

I remember when I first started on HIVE, I thought this was going to my ticket to getting rich quick. Now seven years later I have learned it is a lot more of a grind that I thought it was going to be. Totally worth it though!

You're correct. Reading is one thing, but actually putting it all into action is the only way we can store the knowledge forever. That's why schools also have practical courses to go with theoretical ones, so as you're advancing in one, you're doing the same in the other.
