This matter is really close to my heart. In this part of the world, we stigmatize too much. Imagine someone telling their children not to play with another child that has SCD or polio. It's so stupid and unfair, especially because conditions like that are not the fault of the carriers. If we must have a just and equitable society, we must set aside our prejudices.
Stopping you child from engaging and socialising with other kids because they are sick will not prevent them from falling sick whatsoever because some things cannot be avoided no matter how you try especially health issues
But setting aside prejudice and understanding more of a situation and then going ahead to help and encourage those affected will bring joy and happiness preventing others from going into depression
