I must admit I love swimming.
Now I remember how many West Africans that I knew that could not swim!
Great post and I am reminded of the stories I was told about my grandfather who grew up in Shanghai in China.
One day a as a child his father took my grandfather out in a boat and threw him overboard. He had to swim to the shore 🤣🤣🤣 He made it otherwise I would not be here, and I don't think they would allow that now😁😁😁🏊🏊🏊
Your grandfather had no choice than to face his fears. I am scared to my teeth to try IT. I know of a place in Nigeria called Bayelsa. They have a tradition of dipping their new born into the river. They believe that it will take away the fear of water from the child.
Thank you for sharing your story too
Unfortunately I never met him, so could not ask him if he really was scared. My relatives have said I inherited his love of adventure so who knows.
Bayelsa sounds an interesting place. It is amazing what people will do for traditions🏊
Oh sorry about not meeting him.
Yes that's true
