RE: Economic Priorities: Reconsidering Our Spendings for Sustainable Development

in Hive Learners2 years ago

Have you seen Canada on a map? Land size wise we are about 10x larger than Nigeria (I think that's where I saw you were from). We only have 30 Million population so about 1/7th the population. That means that there are very large areas that have no people, no electricity, no phone service, no running water. Most of it belongs to the government but I have a 60ac piece.

Having said that I also have 4ac in the Philippines. It doesn't have water or electricity there either. At least it has cellular phone service though :)

Canada is a very large place. It does make sense for it to have underdeveloped areas as it's not like there's people everywhere. I just never thought of it like that. I have always pictured it differently.

You sure have quite the properties around. You must have a family of your own. How are you all doing?

Just for fun..

This is a picture taken while driving to my property in Rosswood, BC

I'm in the middle of trying to develop some places for people to visit and enjoy nature. Currently there is a pole for satellite internet and a generator.

and there are thick forests, wetlands and mountains all around. I thought this area was especially pretty.

As for my family. Yes. I'm 54 and have a wife and two kids. This is my wife and I on our anniversary.

And I have two sons. Both are teenagers.

The younger one is doing well. He has OK grades in school, a nice girlfriend, fun hobbies and a part-time job. My older son is having a few challenges right now. He started a great paying job (making more than me) but got in a motorcycle accident and his small finger got ripped off. It got reattached but that means 6 weeks no work. He also broke up with his girlfriend of almost 3 years so he's dealing with the heartache that causes... but he's a tough kid and will be fine.

Thanks for taking an interest and maybe you can share a bit about yourself?

Oh, wow.
What mountains are those? They look so cool.

This place you are building, is it some sort of resort center for commercial purposes? And is it far from the town?

I am sorry about your second son. He is a tough kid and he will be over with this rough patch soon enough. You have great sons.

I am guessing you must have been a hottie yourself in your days. You look very good at 54, and your wife is an absolute beauty. You got sharp eyes.

Well, I am but a young chap. I just graduated from the university, and I turned 22 a few months ago. Basically, I am trying to figure out my life. You must remember how being in the twenties is like. And I am Nigerian, so yeah, those mountains would look cool to me.
