The reflection it brings

Music means different things to different people, which is a major reason we haven't reached a clear definition that the general public agrees on. However, one thing is for sure: music heals the soul. You could say that my definition of music is dependent on my personal experiences.

I've loved good music since I was little; it always lightens my mood whenever I feel sad—depending on the type of music, of course. Let me share a funny story with you, but please don’t laugh. Growing up, my mom rarely punished me, but there came a point in my childhood when my behavior became uncontrollable. She didn’t know what to do, so she started using a more disciplinary approach.

One day, I got into a quarrel—something my sister caught me doing, and she reported me to our mom. That day, I faced the consequences. After the experience, I went to my room, crying my eyes out. I heard my favorite song playing in the background and slowly walked to the living room, standing near the door to avoid being seen. As time passed, I could feel my mood lifting; the music flowed through my veins and enveloped my whole being, prompting me to move my head to the rhythm.

At that moment, I realized the power of music and its effects on our emotions. Imagine feeling sad and suddenly finding yourself smiling and laughing out loud, your heart racing. Sometimes, I think of music as a form of life itself.

I don't know if I'm alone in feeling that my favorite music changes based on my mood. Yes, you heard that right! Currently, I have a favorite song that I've been listening to for several days: "It's on the Repeat."

When I wake up in the morning, I play it, and before I go to sleep at night, it's still playing. That's how much I love this particular song. It truly heals my soul and expresses my gratitude.

You might wonder, "What song is this?" Well, let me reveal it: the title is "Mercy" by Moses Bliss.

“Lord, I'm amazed by how you've shown me mercy.” This is the first line of the song.

I often reflect on my background and upbringing. Some say growing up in a polygamous home hurts children, while others argue that not all children get the chance to pursue higher education. Many doubt that a father can gather enough resources to send all his children to school. I listened to every negative word spoken, but I didn’t panic. I kept my cool, went to school, and completed my tertiary education.

I wanted to take a break at home, but my mom insisted, “No, you are going to further your education.” That was it; here I am, a graduate. This song brings back all those memories, and I often wonder, "Why me?" Why would God choose to show me mercy when I don’t deserve it? Despite everything I’ve done, He continues to show me His mercy, and for that, I am incredibly grateful. All I can say is, "God is faithful." He looked at a little girl like me and decided to show me His mercy. He picked me from the crowd and created a glorious destiny for me. I could go on and on about the love He has shown me and this particular music brings all that back.

You are welcome for reading

Good music is to the soul what food is to the stomach.

Mercy by Moses Bliss is just too powerful. There are days when I put the song on replay the whole day; some songs are just too powerful that they minister to our every being.

That song is really, and the part he featured, the man of God, those words were even more powerful. Thanks for stopping by.

Your current favorite song is a reflection of how good God has been to you. That song is a confession and a Thanksgiving to God.

When we sit and think about certain events that has happened: our conclusion would be it could only have been God.
