What do you think of the Newbies Initiative, and how has it helped your Hive journey?
I think this should be obvious to anyone who frequents my blog especially my posts about this wonderful program. My knowledge base stopped after the week we discussed about markdowns. I already had some information or knowledge about markdowns and most of the topics we discussed until then.
I must admit that after that particular task (Task 2) every other week got more and more difficult. I remember almost missing one particular week because the task was just so difficult. But if you know me well you’ll know I take every challenge as a learning experience, that is exactly what I did.
Those tasks that I found them difficult I do some research about them. I search about that particular topic on hive and read about it to get more information about the particular topic. I had to learn them on my own because I always didn’t have the luxury of time to join the discord meeting where the topic is being discussed.
The initiative is just wonderful. This even feels like an understatement. I have learnt so much the past few weeks from this initiative. I quite underestimated the amount of resources that’s here on hive, but every time I had a difficulty understanding any particular topic and I search for it I get really good information about that topic. The program made me understand and appreciate Hive more. Not to mention the brilliant minds I have gotten in contact with. Team members and non team members alike.
How have the tasks given been helpful?
In my opinion, the tasks have been well curated. But then I was looking forward to learning more about hive tools than other “businesses” on hive. All the other dApps we learned about are cool, but I was just looking forward to more tools like hivetasks, hiveblocks, hive.vote, and all the other tools like that. I remember we did one about Account Recovery which can very exciting to me because that was the kind of things I was looking forward to learning.
These things I have mentioned above are what I expected but it does not mean that I did not enjoy what we did. I did enjoy every little bit of it. Okay I am now feeling like I am probably asking too much. Lol. Everything we learned about are fairly important only that I just expected something a little different. Something more of “hive-backend” related rather than “frontend”.
That notwithstanding, it has been so helpful learning about the topics that were covered. I have gotten to learn about other frontends such as the neoxiancity, dbuzz, and the like. I have also finally been able to try playing splinterlands and I have even gotten a friend to teach me more.
What aspects of the Initiative do you believe we could enhance, and how?
I believe I have answered part of this particular question in just the previous (above) submission.
Let me just put it plainly here.
I think the program should focus a bit more light on hive “backend dApps” like hivetasks, hiveblocks, hive.vote and the likes.
Secondly, I looked forward to seeing a tutorial post of the topics as the task announcement post but it was not like that. In the first few tasks we got links to tutorials which was great but subsequent tasks lacked the tutorial posts.
The post announcing the topics could have a brief tutorial of the task then conclude with the task questions.
Last but not least, I notice we learned exactly the same things as the last batch of the program. This is good but I just think a little bit of updated information or twist would have gone a long way. We could have learned about current developments on hive. Though I should commend the task moderators on this one as they made an effort to include leothreads in the program. Keep it up.
What value do you think you can offer to the initiative?
I believe at this point I won’t be getting over my head if I say I am in the position to give a tutorial on all the topics we have covered in the program. Hey but do give me a heads up so I can prepare myself for the assignment. Lol.
Apart from being able to give a tutorial on the topics covered I believe I can be a good guide to the next batch that will be joining the program.
At this point I am an ambassador of the program and I will strive to keep a good name for the program by producing quality content as I already do and improving on them.
I shall always be available to serve the program to the best ability anytime the program needs me.
Remember the Newbies Initiative Task 1 where you were asked to set down your goals. Show us a recount of your goals and how far you have come through.
I had set three(3) different goals at the beginning of this program. Looking back at the day two months felt like a long time to do many things. Being here today it doesn’t really seem that long a time to do much. Or I guess life just has its own way of humbling us. We make plans and set goals as if we own our lives but the universe always smiles at us knowing what’s really going to happen.
My goals by this time were to gain a 100 more Hive Power, improve on my engagement, and collect 20 more hive engine tokens.
If my memory serves me right I had 117 HP at the beginning of the program. Today I have 210 HP making it a gain of 93 HP. Not exactly my goal but it is more than close to it. It is enough.
My engagement improved but not so drastically. I am not in hive 247 but when I come on and I don’t have anything disturbing me mentally I do engage like three days worth of engagement. Lately my head has not been right so it has affected my engagement on hive.
With the tribe tokens, I have not been able to collect up to 20 tokens. I have been able to collect a few but not in the quantities I mentioned in my goals. I believe life does not end here.
As much as I mentioned these goals in the program they are actually my personal goals and as life goes on I will not relent until I see to it that those goals have been achieved. Life does not stop here.

Training on Hive Back end is presently on, I saw it on a Witness post some days ago, it's like Hive Rev Hub of a thing but can't remember it's full name
Thanks
I’ll look for it.
Congrats on graduating man. The initiative task has been a good one. Sad to see you didn’t learn about the backend dApps but maybe that’s great suggestion for the next batch. I noticed you spoke about the tutorials. They did actually, for all the tasks. Posts were shared for us to read before the discord meetings.
It’s nice to see you’ll be striving to achieve your goals.
Thanks man
Congratulations man for coming this far in the initiative, yeah, it hasn't been so easy like that in this journey, I liked the fact that you mentioned the addition of the use of hivetools, and also brought out the suggestion of a change in courses different from that of last year's courses. You really did well in this initiative, Kudus.
Thanks man
Excellent review, I agree with you on many points of what can be improved in the following initiatives. 😃
Yes! 😃
Thank you for passing by.
You've really said beautiful things about this initiative which I can also attest to and I also love the way you specifically channelled their mind into something different, the hive backend
That's amazing.
Well-done colleague... It's really not easy finishing the race atleast.... Congratulations
Thank you 😊
You're welcome
