Hey Everyone!!
Winter has already started here in India, bringing cool, foggy mornings and chilly nights. With the changing climate, nature also transforms. Crops in farms adapt to the season, and the surrounding plants and trees either thrive or shed their leaves to cope with the cold. Winter is a season when only certain plants and flowers can bloom, and one of the most common and beloved winter flowers in India is the marigold.
Marigold flowers are a staple in almost every household during this season. They’re not just beautiful but also incredibly easy to grow, which is why I’ve always loved them. Every winter, I make sure to share pictures of my blooming marigold plants because they’re such a joy to see and photograph.
Usually, I tend to plant marigold seeds late—when half of winter has already passed. But this year, I made it a point to sow the seeds early, even before winter began. It worked out perfectly! By the time winter started, my marigold plants had already grown and started to bloom. Now, each of my plants has 3-4 vibrant flowers, and they look absolutely stunning.
Marigolds are simple yet elegant flowers. A single dried marigold flower contains enough seeds to grow an entire garden full of plants. Once fully grown, each stem blooms with a flower that stays fresh for several days. In India, marigolds are widely used for decoration, especially during festivals and special occasions. We often string them into garlands to decorate doors, homes, and temples, adding a touch of tradition and beauty effortlessly.
These are a few pictures of my marigold plants from my terrace garden. Let me know if you’ve ever grown these flowers or if they’re part of your winter gardening. I’d love to hear your thoughts!
