On creating Canada tokens

in Canada4 years ago

Hive is all about Communities, and the new Canada community is meant to be a place for all Canadians, including those born elsewhere who live in Canada. This group is open to all Hivvers even if you just want to post about Canadian topics. Feel free to ask questions! Lets make this the most active Canada group on Hive!

We are also all very excited about building our Tribe and launching tokens, but there are some costs involved and in order to do it properly we are going to need to agree on a few things up front. Let us explore these ideas and strive to reach a simple consensus.

Of the ideas I have heard so far, Canada tokens could be called

1 Bucks, food
2 Poutine, food
3 Syrup, food
4 Oil, resource
5 Beaver, resource

Lets keep brainstorming this, so it can be gamified. I like the idea of buying a Tap (miner token) and staking it, which would provide you a daily drip of SYRUP.

I thought it would be a good focus for this group to use dPOLL to create polls, and we can have engaging discussions with lots of comments. I am tagging current group members for your participation in this next step.

@saboin @alapok @phusionphil @mytechtrail @shadflyfilms @annephilbrick @bulldog-joy @offgridlife @hivecoffee

For now, I would ask members of this group to vote on the POLL comment below, by selecting the token name you like the most. This will not eliminate the other choices, just get a feeling for which would be the best to focus on first.

I believe we should start a pool of LEO and HIVE tokens, that users can send funds to: @cvault <- We need to raise 100 BEE for the token creation and 1000 BEE for staking. There are some other costs also so we need to pool about 5000 HIVE or 2000 LEO.

If 35 individual users contribute just 58 LEO each then we will pool enough value to launch our very own Canada community tribe token! If the group wants this, we can make it happen, with the help of amazing devs like @aggroed .

Please load comments and VOTE!

When I reach 1000 BEE I will create a token for this community!

Why is a buck food and beaver a resource?

Well cause you can make hats out of Beavers but Deer you mostly eat. You are clever when it comes to games, id like to hear your ideas to make this fun!

Even though I suggested beaver I like the TAP miner producing SYRUP tokens.

I like the gamification idea that's the best way to go about it in my opinion.
If this was a game how could you hunt beavers and then turn them into hats?

Why not just make CHBD

Canadian Hive Backed Dollar

There is about 2 or 3 liquidity pool protocols around, uniswap being the most popular

We could start a trend and get more international currencies their own Hive Stable coin.

The liquidity from the pool of Leo and Hive you speak of would be a good start to a liquidity pair, I just have no idea how much maintenance one of those erc20 tokens would cost to peg to hive.

There is also the Ren protocol which is less common renZEC and renBTC are both on it.

explainer post, we can create a Diesel pool smart contract that will trade the token against other Hive-Engine tokens. This is a great idea @phusionphil I was hoping someone would suggest something like this. Reading @aggroed 's

"Liquidity Pools aka Diesel Pools
You can create pools that trade your tribe token vs other tokens. In the near future you can setup contracts to reward people that provide liquidity.
1000 BEE creation fee for the Diesel Pool contract
Separate fee for the ongoing rewards

I really like this idea of a Canadian Coin. Beaver Bucks perhaps? Ill fallow along and help where I can in the efforts to make this happen. Thanks for organizing this.

I have no clue about all that stuff 😂 but I like Buck because a) my Rottis name was Buck... and b) I think it sticks in ppl heads, because of the phonetics. That's why Starbucks became so popular without advertisement. They searched for a phonetical word that triggers neurons in the brain and the ending bucks is doing its job on that...and c) cuz bucks is already a common phrase for money...and d) you have a lot around in Canada...😁.

Syrup is cool too but its just not flowing like "Hey...i got some bucks" ;)

Agreed. You are an awesome Canadian !

😄 Thanks, get the visas ready lol.

I am also alright with there being multiple Canada community tokens, but I do think we should start with one.
