I think you need to understand the complexities of Canada more than you currently do. Stating we speak the same language for one, couldn't be more false. Our culture is not the same and we won't be the 'just another state' unless they take it by force.

Where did I say that you have the same culture? I said that you speak the same language, which is obviously a fact and I said that it is a lot to have in common. I do not speak Dutch, for example, even though the Netherlands is our neighbor, or Danish (Denmark), which is also our neighbor. If I do not speak the language of a country it makes me differ very much, while when I speak it, I have an easier access to the culture of it.
There is an history of Americans accepting stupid things that impacted Canada. Maybe we're just tired to letting go and being understanding with them.
