Familiarity breeds contempt they say, and if you are surrounded by family and lifelong friends, you often may well understand - or think you do - each the others thoughts about major events and substantive principles. The degradation of civil society across the West is a crime, and it is all the world that is robbed of the good intentions and hard work to create the blessings of civilization.
It is always more intriguing and challenging to address deep principles, as you do, in a language you were not born speaking. Your superlative skill at English is an inspiration, although I haven't had occasion to speak French, that sole language besides English I learned much of, in ~50 years.
Thanks!
HaHa! True. But it also breeds an instant humor.
Yes. 100 %.
When younger, I was snobbishly lifting my nose towards such an expression. How foolish that was.
Ah! Right, that is correct! There is something to it, in trying to understand aliens. To become better by diving deep into a foreign language, is like climbing up stairs and entering very interesting rooms on that way!
You speak French, I envy that. I do love the accent and melody of it and can perfectly mimic it but never learned it. C'est dommage.
Mais, c'est bein ca! Vouz parlez la Belle Langue plus mieux que vouz dit.
Le français c'est aussi la culture du Canada
C'est vrai en Quebec, mais pas autre places.
LOL 50 years I haven't spoken it, and suddenly I can hear the words again in my head. When I was 11 I thought in French. After leaving France I thought that part of my brain was overrun with English, but I find it has been dormant all this time.
New Brunswick has a big French population and Ontario too.
Having only visited other parts of Canada, I was unaware. My need to travel as a resident of Alaska was the primary reason I visited Canada, because it is impossible to travel directly from SE Alaska to other regions remaining entirely internal to Alaska, but needing to pass through Canada on the Al-Can Highway to drive there.
I knew that.
Sorry didn't mean to be rude. I'm glad there is some people on the internet that are not interesting only by their own belly button. Props to you ✌️
Thank you, appreciated. My belly button is indeed not the most interesting subject in the world.
