strange creature washed up on the beach

hi there. i am new to this community so this is my first post. my house is close to a mostly natural beach on the west coast of india so i often go for long walks. occasionally i come across dead animals washed up in the tide. i have seen dolphins, turtles, snakes and fish as well as various other marine life. but one day a few years back i came upon a dead animal i did not recognize, though perhaps it may be some type of eel. it was well over a meter long. i was wondering if anybody here might help identify what it is. the photos are not exactly pleasant to view but reality is what it is and death is inevitable for all forms of life. so i hope you share my curiosity and are not put off by these photos.

thanks for any feedback.

maybe its a dried up baby whale

Those are photos of great value @eolianpariah👏
I thank you very much for sharing this important information with us, due to the location in which you are located, and also to the morphology of the corpse, it is most likely that it is Neophocaena phocaenoides (Indo-Pacific finless porpoise)🐬
Although it is a corpse in advanced decomposition stage, it is observed that it lacks a dorsal fin (above the porpoise). The interesting thing here is that it is a threatened species! It is recommended that if one day you observe some other species, you contact the authorities of your country👌
@eolianpariah thanks for these photos! Remember that the purpose of this community is quality information. Let's share more content like this post! Reblog this post, we already did it👌👏🐬

thanks for your great feedback. it is a pleasure to contribute to this community. i had never heard of the indo pacific finless porpoise and now i am happy to know they live in the sea nearby

yes this photo is very similar in shape, size and features

Looks like some kind of porpoise, perhaps the Indo-Pacific finless porpoise (considering your location).

thanks i did a little digging for that species and it seems like you may be right. not completely sure but probable.

Hello @eolianpariah!

Impressive photos that are very useful when describing causes of stranding in Marine Mammals, quite possibly it is Indo-Pacific finless porpoise
