Hello friends from the underwater world!🐬 Welcome again!🐡
We were away for a long time, but we are back again in this great network as #HiveBlog is. With your support and your collaboration we will make AS a great community😃, we want to tell you some of the reasons why we are absent and also our future plans...👇
Since the founding of #AquaticSentinels until now we have always said that our mission is to share quality scientific information✔️ regarding everything related to the aquatic and marine environment, this mission WILL NOT CHANGE🤗

Aquatic and marine life offers us multiple topics of interest:
👉biology
👉Taxonomy
👉Ecology
👉Genetics
👉Behaviour
👉Reproduction
👉Bioacoustics
👉Relationship with human beings
👉Animal welfare
👉...and many others!
⚠️The following information has been written and edited by Juan Bacab G. (community leader). Adapted by @juanbg
"A great absence because of an interesting project"🐬
Of course, our intention was never to abandon the "Aquatic Sentinels" project, after all the main objective was always the same and we mentioned it from the beginning:
Broadly speaking, we can find the purpose of this community in the logo "Share the underwater world with everyone🦀"
That is, working together, where both Aquatic Sentinels and our subscribers can share quality information in favor of aquatic species and their ecosystems, and this IS NOT GOING TO CHANGE👆

Can you imagine a world without our oceans?😢 Neither do we, which is why it is always a good idea to share information that will help us take action and care for our oceans.
That is why we have been absent due to the work we have been doing on a doctoral research project🔬, it is hard work that required all our time and effort.
In this research work we want to know more about the animal behavior of dolphins🐬, yes, all this time we have been studying dolphins and we were very close to them, this is necessary for the preservation of the species.
"We had the opportunity to be very close to the dolphins, the closer you are to them, the more you will learn about the dolphins, incredible animals!"

"Animal behavior, we have much more to investigate"🔍
The project we are working on tries to answer questions about the diversity of dolphin behavior. How many behaviors can we observe when dolphins are in a group? What does this number of behaviors tell us about their welfare?🤔
To answer these questions it is necessary that we observe the dolphins for a long time and at the same time, we create a database that allows us to analyze this behavior in a more detailed way, we can even use specialized programs that will give us an idea of what is happening with the behavior.

"Simple tools but they do their job"
A GoPro video camera was enough to record the behavior of the dolphins🎥, we have over 1,800 minutes of behavioral video of the bottlenose dolphin and the same for the Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphin🐬. Also, we use a pair of submersible speakers to be able to present sounds that indicate the arrival of a stimulus and that they present something known as anticipation behavior.

"This research continues"
We already have some results, but there is more to discover. Even so, we have seen that the behavior in these two species of dolphins is very different despite the fact that they are very related! even when playing. In addition, the behavior may be different at different times of the day. This type of study helps us to improve strategies in order to offer better animal welfare to species.

We were able to observe differences in behaviors such as the sounds they make, or when they are resting at the bottom of the water. These differences are important for science because they have not been previously reported, one of our goals is to get these findings published in a scientific journal📊🔬
"This research has been made known in different meetings and congresses" How can this help AS?"👈
During this time, this research work has been able to be presented at some meetings and congresses in Mexico. The first times they made themselves known was to obtain data collection permits and to be able to work with the dolphins, then we had the opportunity to bring this project to one of the most important international meetings:
👉The meeting of the Mexican Society of Marine Mammalogy (celebrated in Colima,México) many researchers from various parts of the world were in this place.
We had the opportunity to meet many researchers who have dedicated much of their lives to the study of marine mammals, we learned about new sampling techniques, critically endangered species, veterinary medicine, parasites, and animal behavior.
Dr. Nataly Castelblanco, Biol. Silvia Becerra, Dr. Blanca🔬
Many of these people were told about the Aquatic Sentinels project and several were interested, this could be very good for AS! and for this, we want to encourage our subscribers to share content about our wonderful sea, only in this way can we grow this project and do our bit for our seas and oceans...
Do you join the challenge?🐬🦈
This project is dedicated to the preservation of our sea, our rivers and lakes, our lagoons. Let's make it possible! Let's share scientific and quality information for the good of our aquatic world!
🐟🐋Welcome!🐬🐙
