Yeah, that electrical storm fried two switches, and messed up a bunch of switch ports and ethernet heads, which I've never seen happen before. Thankfully, though, I got it up and working again by early evening, after lots of testing, switch swapping, and ethernet-head changing. Nothing on the property was struck, but hardware still got muffed up. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

Yeah, I've seen it before, what lightning can do, even if it struck a couple of miles away!
I once had 4 motherboards broken at once, due to a struck lightning in a city 10kms away. I heard them go "click" and all was down :-D

Yeah, my dad always used to run around the house frantically unplugging everything from the first sign of thunder he heard. And me, being the annoying teen I was at that time (even though I was already 20 :-D), I just ignored him...
Little did I know he was going to be right so soon! :-D lol
But, to be honest, I still don't unplug everything, over the years it became waaaay too many plugs :-D

I always did it for things like computers and routers, but usually nothing else. Your dad definitely understood! I can't even imagine trying to unplug every switch on this property! 😁🙏💚✨🤙

I can imagine! Same thing here, we have about 8 computers on the network, and 9 wifi-routers. Add to that tv's, smart-whatevers, printers... By the time I'm halfway, the storm has passed by...
