Today is one of those in-between days—a quiet pause before life picks up speed again. After the chaos of the holidays, a Sunday like this is exactly what we need as a family. Peace, calm, and a little pampering for everyone (including me).
Next week, my daughter’s revalidation sessions start again. We’ve been at it for months, and we’re making progress, even if she doesn’t always see it herself. I mean, the fact that the wheelchair is gathering dust should be a pretty big clue, right? But no, progress isn’t always obvious when you’re in the middle of it. She’s got a busy month ahead with exams and appointments, but I know she’ll crush it. She always does.
Meanwhile, my son is home from his trip, battling both a jet lag and a broken heart. Saying goodbye to his girlfriend hit him hard. Honestly, I wish I could just wrap him up in a blanket and make it all better, but some things you’ve just got to feel to heal.
So today, we rest. We breathe. No rushing, no expectations, just a quiet Sunday to reset before the week begins. I feel calmer now, and I’m hoping this mindset can carry me through the year. The world may be chaotic, but inside these four walls, I’m determined to keep things steady and peaceful.
In the spirit of calm, I did a bit of pampering. I found the adapter I’d been searching for, and finally got to play with my Cricut Joy. I even made @borniet a new mug! It’s cheeky and perfect, and I hope he likes it (though let’s be honest, it’s hilarious, so how could he not?).
I also prepped some meals for myself, no gluten, no lactose, no sugar. Just simple, nourishing food. My body’s been asking me to slow down, and I’m listening. After months of focusing on my daughter, I feel like I can finally take a breath and pick things up at my own pace. Yoga, studying, writing, it’ll all be there when I’m ready. No pressure, no rush.
Life has a way of sorting itself out. It’s not always easy, but it’s okay to slow down, to breathe, and to trust that things will fall into place.
So here’s to calm Sundays, warm mugs, and the reminder that everything will be okay.
With love and calm,
A Mom Learning to Breathe Again

Thank you ❤️
You are welcome
I am very glad to read that your son is back home. His heartache will ease with time - these days there are hardly any distances that you can't overcome. I also wish your daughter all the best, and you too of course! I'm sure it all takes a lot of strength, but you're doing a great job.
Thank you for taking the time to read. And thank you for the very kind words ❤️
I'm always happy to read your lines! Unfortunately, I don't have the time far too often. Your words remind me of the time when my daughter spent a quarter of a year in Australia and New Zealand after finishing school and then six months in the USA shortly afterwards. Fortunately, she came back without any heartache. Best wishes! 🤠
Totally awesome mom. Yet we have to take a pause and give some time to ourselves to give more energy and time to our loved ones.
That’s so true, you can’t pour out of an empty cup
