This Wednesday has had a Saturday-like presence today. I don't complain about that, I like to have these calm days in my daily #life. I had little work at home today and I took the opportunity to buy groceries to replenish, now that my brother repaired the refrigerator (and we already verified that it has no defects) we brought vegetables and some meat. It didn't take us long to purchase, and the weather was with a very gentle drizzle, which we also call Garúa around here, with drops so tiny that they seemed to float rather than fall.
On this #food thing, I guess if you've read any of my recent daily posts before, you'll know that I usually focus on this field to comment and complete the content of my daily log. For I tend to lead a life with a calmness that could make it seem boring, if I describe it carelessly. Well, today I also chose an anniversary from #History that has to do with food, it is that today (December 13) is 'Cocoa Day'.

Este miércoles ha tenido una presencia como de sábado el día de hoy. No me quejo de eso, me gusta tener estos días calmados en mi #vida diaria. Tenía poco trabajo en casa hoy y aproveché para comprar víveres para reponer, ahora que mi hermano reparó la nevera (y ya comprobamos que no tiene fallas) trajimos vegetales y algo de carne. No tardamos mucho en la compra, y el clima estaba con una muy suave llovizna, que también por acá llamamos Garúa, de gotas tan minúsculas que parecieran flotar más que caer.
En esto de #comida, supongo que, si has leído con anterioridad alguna de mis publicaciones diarias recientes, sabrás que me suelo enfocar en este campo para comentar y completar el contenido de mi registro diario. Pues suelo llevar una vida con una calma que podría hacer que pareciera aburrida si la describo de manera descuidada. Bien, hoy también escogí una efeméride de la #Historia que tiene que ver con comida, se trata de que hoy (13 de diciembre) es el ‘Día de la Cocoa’.

I had already published in July about chocolate day, but today it focuses on another product. While all of these are related, they are about different things. #Cocoa is the name given to the mixture of cacao powder, refined sugar and preservatives. Cacao powder is the result of grinding the roasted beans of the fruit of the same name. When processed, cocoa is produced, and the latter is the ingredient in many pastry preparations.
Cocoa, dried and roasted traditionally, is a very healthy product, and is even recommended in different diets. But, cocoa… is not so healthy, the addition of preservatives, artificial flavors, refined sugar, and coloring… well, it's not that all of this makes it healthy, rather it reduces its positive impact on the body.

Yo ya había publicado en julio sobre el día del #cacao, y en otra fecha escribí sobre la celebración del #chocolate, pero hoy se enfoca en otro producto. Si bien todos estos se relacionan, se trata de cosas distintas. #Cocoa es el nombre que se le da a la mezcla de cacao en polvo, azúcar refinada y conservantes. El cacao es el resultado de la molienda de los granos tostados del fruto del mismo nombre, al ser procesado se produce la cocoa, y este último es el ingrediente de muchas preparaciones de repostería.
El cacao, secado y tostado de manera tradicional, es un producto muy saludable, e incluso se recomienda en distintos regímenes alimenticios. Pero, la cocoa… no es tan saludable, el agregado de conservantes, sabores artificiales, azúcar refinada, y colorantes… bien, no es que todo eso le haga ser saludable, más bien reduce su impacto positivo en el organismo.

I must warn that I am passionate about food, also sweets, and chocolate has always had a special place for me. So, I don't find it very pleasant to point out something negative about a product derived from cocoa. But it is something that is true, and we have to accept that it is about acting with moderation in its consumption.

Debo advertir que soy un apasionado de la comida, también de los dulces, y el chocolate siempre ha tenido un lugar especial para mí. Así que no me resulta muy grato señalar algo negativo de un producto derivado de cacao, pero es algo que es cierto y toca aceptar que se trata de actuar con moderación en su consumo.
