Murāqabah is a meditative practice common amongst the dervishes for spiritual growth, but can also be used by commonfolks for it's immense benefits to the healing of self.
Here is a small guide on how to practice this yourself...
A Quiet Place: Quiet locations such as one's bedroom or inner chamber where one doesn't feel disturbed. It can also be outdoor in a quiet serene place such as a garden or park.
Comfortably Sit: Be in a relaxed position whilst sitting either cross legged on floor or on chair. The back must be straight but not too stiff.
Eyes Closed: Eyes must remain closed throughout the exercise which minimizes distraction and increases inward focus on self.
Control Breath: As the breath becomes deeper and deeper, awareness expands.
Goal or intention setting: Set intention it could be anything from improving self awareness or increasing spritual connection.
Start: Slowly increase the concentration and bring the awareness of self to stillness.
End: Gradually open eyes after 5 - 10 mins of practice. Repeat as desired to achieve deeper states of awareness as desired.
Note: This is a general practice for self improvement and growth, take expert advice if you suffer from mental health issues beforehand.
