A Short Walk to the Carnival's Charm and Street of Culture

Are you fond of carnivals?

If you are, then we're the opposite but I like watching people enjoying those rides, though. I have been trying to convince myself to try one of those rides again, especially that what they call Viking's Ship, wherein it will sway you up and down. It looks exciting and tempting but after that Ferris Wheel incident that I had 6 years ago, I couldn't muster any courage to try again.

It wasn't that traumatizing actually, more like from a first time experience and I was having trust issues with my safety from the speed and their machinery. It was spinning like hell while the machine in the middle was shaking like crazy. 😆 This time, I just stare at those big rides with contentment that I wouldn't be riding those again. I just witnessed a breathtaking and thrilling scene that just sparked my anxiety. Some people were not wearing their safety gears while up in the air and it's very dangerous.

I have seen such alarming scene on one of my #WednesdayWalk at an evening of Masskara Festival on my regular shift. I was having my break time and after I ate, I didn't went back to the office but took a walk in front of our building near the New Government Center of Bacolod City.

As you ventured into this street, an array of food grills will greet you with the smokey aroma of Chicken Barbeque and other skewers. There wasn't any other choices of food aside from it, so if you wanted to try other menu aside from grilled chicken, then this place isn't for you. You should go instead to Lacson Street or to the Malls where you can enjoy various selection of foods.

On the other side of the road, there were stalls selling accessories like bracelets, necklace, earrings and a corner for tattoo arts. And of course, souvenir shops wouldn't be left behind as they are attracting people with miniature Masskara keychains, stickers and T-shirts. Thrift stores are also there since it was a popular product even on the usual days.

We've been surveying this street for about few minutes to see what could attract us. I was tempted to buy long skirts and buggy pants at those thrift stores, by the way, but they're taking advantage of the event to raise prices on each items. It's quite expensive for a preloved product, I should just a new one instead if I couldn't still save money from it.

We let ourselves be lured in by the lights of the carnival at the distance and it brought us into its doors in just a few minutes. That big ferris wheel could be tempting but nah, not again. I'm not familiar with what the other rides are called, though. Nevertheless, there are few to choose from. Betting games are also famous here, but I'm not the type to waste money on something that I know isn't worth it, so it's a pass.

We don't really have something in mind to do here. We just wanted to take a walk after a meal and take a breather before going back to work. There's not much to see there anyway as we concluded after the walk. Maybe the fun of the festival wasn't placed here but on the other parts of Bacolod.

La foto de la rueda es espectacular.

I’ve been to carnivals as a kid but hated going on rides but was too fond of the fancy foods 🎡

Ah, yes, the foods! I agree, the food is good over there.

I like seeing the carnivals and fairs and watching the rides, but dont like the crowds or the rides for that matter they do not look that sturdy to me

Thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk

Have a good day

Right, I also don't think they're sturdy and I don't often feel safe just by watching those. My first experience did confirm that feeling.
