Archives of a desperate walk trying to reach Trastevere, Rome
Hello dear friends of Wednesday Walk, today I come to share a walk that was quite fun in the end, but for me, somewhat desperate while it was happening, haha. And the thing is that one day while walking around Rome, I decided to go to the famous Trastevere neighborhood, one well known for being somewhat bohemian. Apparently it has little bars and is very nice to look at.
Since I had been walking around Rome for a while and the city had seemed friendly, safe and beautiful, I decided to go to Trastevere on foot.

At that time I didn't have a European SIM card, so I was losing internet frequently and was only connecting at a few points that offered WiFi for customers. For this reason, at one point I completely lost track of space.
Although I looked at Google Maps, I could not locate myself, but even without data, the application showed me that nearby there was something that looked like an urbanization because there were the quadratics that indicate that there are buildings or houses.
The endless street
I was walking down a street, which I don't know at what point became a road. At that moment I understood about walled cities. It was not that I had arrived at a walled city or something like that, but suddenly on the sides of the street where I was walking and cars were passing there were only high walls, some of them with protection on top, like barbed wire (in Argentina this is called concertina and I was very surprised to see it in Rome).
The street had curves and at one point I simply could not see whether cars or motorcycles were coming or not, and there are plenty of the latter in Rome.
I had two options: either I went back and kept my back to the cars, or I continued. I didn't think too much about it, I just kept going.
Ten minutes must have passed while I was walking like that. My eyes were wide open like saucers begging to see at least one street that intersected with that one that seemed to be endless with its walls and its sinuous outline with curves that turned to one side or the other.
I don't know how I took some pictures in that desperation, Blair Witch Project style, like: "this is the record of what happened", hehe. I really had a lot of nerves, until I started to see new buildings, facades, slower cars, and then I calmed down, because that meant I had finished that seemingly eternal street.
The picturesque neighborhood, edge of Trastevere
I walked through that sector, it was one of the edges of Trastevere, very beautiful indeed, picturesque and with some ups and downs that offered semi-panoramic views of more hidden sectors of the city.
The sun in Rome at sunset seems to bathe the Italian capital with a very special light at different times, so I enjoyed a beautiful sunset as I crossed the Tiber River on my way to my hostel, no longer wanting to go into Trastevere. I just wanted to step on "solid ground" and rest.
Solo quería pisar “tierra firme” y descansar.
As I crossed to the other side of the river, towards the east side of Rome, I found a kind of park where there were sculptures like La Bocca della Verità. I took some pictures of that space and went back to the hostel where I was staying (The RomeHello).
This is a memory, but I think it deserves a place in my blog, because it taught me to always have Wifi, to make sure that where I'm going to walk is not exclusively a route, to learn when to choose to go by some means of transportation and not on foot.
In short, an anecdote really, hehe.
