Lights And Shadows In One Of The Castle Gardens

in Wednesday Walk3 days ago (edited)

I looked back a bit at what topics I found for my stories and saw that almost all of them start with a reference to the weather and the season. Something expected, of course, I saw that many of our colleagues did the same, but the insistence with which I did this shows that it's an obsession. I have been looking for an explanation, and I believe that the climate changes that have been so evident in recent years are the cause. So, once again, I start in the same way...

Winter started late where I live. In the past, at this time, I would have been bored with too much winter. At the end of February, we are already waiting for spring, and the real winter has started in intensity. I was scared to see that the long-awaited summer was still so far away.

In these conditions, I will walk again through my memories, through the most beautiful memories, which for me are those of my vacations at the seaside.

My walk, not imaginary, but with the help of memories aided, in their turn, by photographs, took place in Balchik, on the Black Sea. I've walked there dozens of times, told the story so many times, and continuously repeated the initial pleasure.

One of the main reasons I visit Balchik is the many good places to walk. When I wanted to hide from the excessive sun, I chose the Queen Mary's castle garden. Queen Marie of Romania chose this place as the summer residence of the royal family in the 1930s.

Queen Mary's garden is vast, spread over acres in the hills by the sea. It is laid out in terraces and themed gardens with flowers, woodland, waterfalls and cascades, a greenhouse, and many buildings and villas for the queen's five children and the guests of the royal household. All these villas are now used to accommodate tourists and various groups and associations of young people.

I particularly liked the columned villa turned into a creative house where young artists lived.

I also used most of the photos in this blog in a recent post:
Memories, memories
They are not in the same form but have been turned into black-and-white photos. Although I have many other pictures from the same walk, I thought it might be interesting for the reader to see the images in two different ways: color and black and white.

Lights and shadows

Near the villa are several small ponds, several small canals through which water flows from springs, small aquatic animals, and a beautiful garden.

Each villa has its garden, and they differ depending on the location and the relief of the place. Creating these small pools where the turtles are very comfortable was possible.

The vegetation chosen for this garden is not specific to the maritime area, with many mountain trees and many kinds of conifers. I think they were selected for the good shade they provided.

The summer sun shines and covers the place with an intense light, and the shadows of the trees seem to bring out the darkness of the night. This play of lights and shadows was a challenging obstacle when I photographed and edited it. I hope that I managed to find a balance between the two extremes.

This villa, called "The Suite," was built in 1929. It was home to the Master of Ceremonies and the Queen's Attendant, who lived in rooms more luxurious than those in the castle where the Queen lived.

An old and mysterious staircase leads to other villas and gardens, which I hope to bring here as a result of the walks and photos I gathered on that occasion.

I always start with photos when I want to write a blog. Photos remind me of places, events, and feelings that turn into words...

Since we all love photography, let’s explore the captivating details captured in these photos.!

A wise saying goes that a photograph is worth a thousand words, but I don't think so.

It depends on the viewer.

Make a point of looking around and up and see what you can find to get shots of that otherwise you may miss.

Wednesday Walk, every Wednesday, like this one today. This is one of the recommendations made by @tattoodjay for those who prefer walking and are used to sharing impressions and photos in his community,

Thank you!

It's such a beautiful walk.... it feels so good to see the place, I can imagine being there even more. I really like the reflections of the lampposts on the water!

This was a fragment of a much bigger walk.

I see and it is beautiful!
