This time it was a repeat walk, in the same place, just two days apart. I'm referring to the walk I recounted last week, which had, besides the need for movement and sunshine, the need for a good coffee, as I fail to do at home.
The previous walk, First Of The New Year, happened on January 2nd, coincidentally my birthday. After a few very hard months at the end of last year when I spent most of my time indoors, I wanted to spend an hour in my favorite cafe.
I don't know what the advantages of being born at the beginning of the year might be. Maybe you remember the date more easily, maybe you think you're on top of the moons, when in fact, with time, the other moons are sitting on top of you.
There are several disadvantages and I say this from my own experience and I refer to January 2nd. It is too close to the night when everyone is celebrating the new year, and relatives and friends are tired and do not want another party. What's more, in Romania, January 2nd is declared a non-working holiday. Nobody works and everything is closed, including the coveted café.
That's why I repeated the walk to the cafe after two days...
The walk starts from the same parking lot close to Piata Victoriei, an important place in Bucharest where the Romanian Government is located and where several important boulevards cross.
Bucharest is a heterogeneous city, mixed, and mutilated but also beautiful. In the photo above you can see, in such a small place, buildings from different eras: the church from 1787, the school from 1896, the building of the Romanian Peasant Museum, from the beginning of the twentieth century, but also a high block built only ten years ago.
It's where the green part of the city ends, the big parks...
From the parking lot to the cafe it's about 500 meters walk on Kiseleff Boulevard, which ends in Victoriei Square. Until then I have to point out a few special buildings that I always enjoy looking at.
Romanian Peasant Museum, was built between 1912 and 1941.
National Geological Museum, housed in a special building constructed in the early 20th century.
In front of the museum is a tree trunk hundreds of millions of years old, and at the entrance, on either side of it, are two dinosaurs that move and make scary sounds when you walk past them.
There are also petrified dinosaur eggs and in the museum's garden is a dinosaurarium with all kinds of animals that lived hundreds of millions of years ago. I have yet to have the desire to visit this but the museum in the building is on my short list.
Still looking at these buildings I didn't even notice when I arrived in Victory Square.
Victory Square is famous not only because the Romanian Government is there, but also because it is a favorite place for protests. Anyone who has a grievance and wants to make it known always ends up here.
The headquarters of the Romanian Government and in front of it all those who want change. Nationalists, sovereignists and all kinds of people intoxicated by social networks but especially by politicians supported by retrograde groups eager for revenge. I do not agree with them at all, so I will move on, but not before sending them, from a distance, all my "greetings"!
One last glance back at the protesters to see if they have gotten my "greetings" and are coming after me to give me back. Fortunately, they don't have time for me because they're too busy learning their complicated political program, which goes something like this: Huuuuuuoooooooooooooooooo!!!!
Arrived in Victory Square I can't not show you some streets and buildings, as I have nothing else to show.
The Coffee Shop
Our barista friend is waiting for us this time.
Coffee in this place has two important qualities: it's tasty and it's big!
No matter how hard I try, I can't stop my wife from having her favorite cake. They say it's vegan and sugar-free but I can't believe it. It really is very tasty!
It still shows that the winter holidays are not over yet.
We spent there the long awaited and longed for hour and we ended our beautiful walk there, watching from time to time through the window as the bored protesters left the square...
I always start with photos when I want to write a blog. Photos remind me of places, events, and feelings that turn into words...
Since we all love photography, let’s explore the captivating details captured in these photos.!
A wise saying goes that a photograph is worth a thousand words, but I don't think so.
It depends on the viewer.
Make a point of looking around and up and see what you can find to get shots of that otherwise you may miss.

Even I would like that dessert even if it is vegan .... what a treat and definitely not the end of the winter holidays!
What beautiful facades of the museums, I love it!
Yes, I like their architecture too.
🤗
Thankfully, protestors' voice can be heard from the government building.
They can be heard but nobody listens.
The coffee shop was conquered this time 👏
How can a cake be sugar-free? Maybe with a sweetener, I suppose.
Yes, with sweetener I think so too.
belated Happy Birthday, Mine is the same month, infact tomorrow
I'm weird i guess Never drink hot drinks always like ice cold drinks even in the depths of winter
Thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk and have a great day
