Today I had to renew the registration for my car. Before going to the yearly MOT test, some small repairs had to be done. Some old, worn-out details had to be replaced. So I left the car in the garage and went walking through the neighborhood on the outskirts of Pula. If you wondering what the word Pula means - is the name of the city. The nearest city. A little less than ten kilometers from my hometown.
The morning was cloudy and that suburban part of the city was boring as usual. Well. et first sight, at least.
When I took another, deeper look through the lens of the camera, all that boring suburban stuff looked considerably better. Here you can see an unfinished building and the crane above it, a typical scene from this neighborhood.
A couple of minutes later two ladies passed by the construction site.
This self-serve carwash is situated in between the unfinished building and the supermarket from the opening shot.
Here you can take a look at the modern suburban Church of St. John the Baptist. This massive concrete building that lacks the elegance of older churches in this area is part of the city since 2005.
At one point I stopped at the crossroad and took four shots while the cars were passing me by.
Some minutes later ...
... I stopped to photograph this older building that stands out amount the more recent houses.
Here you can see the front facade.
On the way back to the repair shop, I passed by a tall agave plant ...
... and this simple, makeshift advert for the nearby tire repair shop.
After taking this photograph, I drove away.
Five minutes later, I was in a similar neighborhood on the other side of the city.
Here you can see the cars and trucks in front of the MOT test station.
While waiting for the results, I was busy searching for something interesting on the station's facade.
Here you can see some chaotic reflections on one of the doors. In the following shot ...
... the main focus is on the surveillance cameras.
My car didn't pass the emissions test but the numbers were pretty close to being acceptable, so I went on an hour-long drive that could improve the car's performance. This photograph was taken ten or twelve kilometers from Pula, on the outskirts of Vodnjan.
Vodnjan is a beautiful old town ...
... filled with details accumulated through its long urban history.
Here you can take a look at the long street that leads to the main square.
After taking this shot, I continued driving northwards.
Ten or so kilometers further, I noticed some action on the rooftop by the road ...
... so I stopped to take a couple of photographs. The Church Of St. Kvirin from the 16th century was getting brand new roof tiles. The church looks more or less like this since the 16th century, but it was first built much earlier, in the 6th century. Some of the older elements were found in the church under layers of plaster and under the floor. Excavations around the building brought to light many artifacts that were in use from the 6th to the 10th century.
I drove twenty-thirty kilometers more before changing direction. When I encountered the same church on the way back to Pula, the roof was finished.
I took this photograph on my second visit to the test station.
Someone left the helmet on the window sill. You can also see the word PEVEX reflected in the glass of that window. Pevex is a supermarket and in the following photograph ...
... you can take a better look at the front facade of that big store.
As you can see, the weather was slowly changing. It was getting sunny.
Here you can see the lateral facade of the same supermarket. In the following shot ...
... the focus is on the simple geometry of the windows.
And that's it. This time my old car got the license to be on the streets for another year.
AND THAT'S IT. AS ALWAYS IN THESE POSTS ON HIVE, THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE MY WORK - THE END.

Thanks.
I drive an old car too, but we don't need tests for the older cars to be able to renew the license. It is still working good even though I do have to take it to the mechanic shop once in a while, but we really don't want to buy a new car or a newer car since we want to move back to El Salvador, (don't know when yet) so we are going to drive this old car till it dies, but hopefully we will move by then.
I envy you 🙂 These tests can be stressful.
Yeah. I bet.
Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)
Wow! So many new buildings in this small town. The old buildings are much more interesting and nicer than those new square boxes!
The roof seemed very stable! People could walk on it!🙀
🙂 yes, people can have a party up there. Dance all night. No problem.
Hahahah. That’s my dream to have party on the roof of a big house!
😀
This photo is insane, I like it.

People at work often enhance the scenery. 🙂 Give a bit of action to the scene.
The way you wrote "the end" got me laughing.
I was expecting more.
Am kind of wondering how the self service car wash work.
Is it that one gets to clean his car at the place using their materials and then pay a token using credit cards?.
Its good to see some rebranding of the church.
Yes, in those car washes one puts the money in the machine and then uses their cleaning substances, sponges, and water for a certain amount of time.
That's awesome... We don't have such here.

The city buildings, streets and views are very beautiful. Especially the pressure of the people is less and noise free. You shared beautiful photography.
You really have an amazing capture with great views of the streets. The hold building still look strong despite being too old. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day.
Great pics as usual !
I agree that the sky is really dull in the early hours of the morning if it is cloudy. I like sunny weather more. The view of the church is beautiful

I want to buy a car that is very efficient in terms of distance to travel. What do you recommend me? Is Electric cars good choice or it will have charge problem on road?
I don't know much about electric cars. Never had one. They are the future, I guess, but here where I live the future always comes a couple of years later ... so, tomorrow won't probably be much different than today when I wake up and step out on the street. 😀Electric bycles are also cool.
extraordinary beauty of the house with trees and beautiful street photography,
thank you for sharing
