Hi fellow Walkers,
The other day our son and I went for a nice walk and had quite a few ducks take a look!
Walking with Mallards
One of the things that I find enjoyable and pretty cool is getting the chance to spend time near rivers and lakes. We went out for some stuff recently and found this really cool riverwalk to enjoy! Sadly I didn't have the right boots for it so wasn't as equipped as the little man was but that's okay, we still had fun on the walk lol.
While we were walking, a couple times some ducks came right up to us! What I found funny was how interested they were in us but I guess that means they are used to people feeding them which is kind of sad.
I'm not sure what this gesture of the duck sitting down in front of me is but this happened with the duck in the picture above as well, though I wasn't able to capture a picture of it. Was interesting to see the behavior!
It seemed like someone either fall in the ice or broke the ice here, was quite a large gap in the ice right near the shoreline. The ducks were walking through it and were hanging out near us to see if they could get some snacks. They kept coming from all directions, found out we weren't going to feed them then wandered back off onto the ice lol
More ducks coming to hang out with us! It was funny to see them come out of the cold water and get onto the ice. Some of them would break the ice and have some difficulties but largely they did okay.
We didn't walk the trail all the way to the end but it seemed quite long! I think we went onto it a mile in but with the little man, that was a mile of walking near the trees instead of the path lol can't blame him, I was more of an off-the-beaten-path type of person as well!
We found quite a few animal tracks on the journey as well! I think these were a bunch of bunnies but it's nice to see the evidence of wildlife all over the place!

Clearly the ducks are used to people feeding then and sadly often with the wrong type of food
But made for a fun walk fir you both and a nice post to read
Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)
Yeah that's what I was kind of thinking myself. I know I see a lot of people feeding the ducks bread which isn't the best. It's better than some other stuff but a really common food is cheap ass bread lol. Was good to see them get so close though, the little man enjoyed it a lot!
Indeed bread is not good for the ducks but is what so many feed them with
But great the little man had fun
Your walk in nature looks so refreshing and cold.
People think they are doing good by feeding the ducks, but they don't realize that we just do mote harm by feeding them, especially bread, which most feed them with.
Thanks! It was pretty chilly but it was an overall really nice day. The sun was out and there wasn't wind so that was a big factor!
Yeah, most people around here feed them bread and it's not great. I will admit that we've fed them bread ourselves in the past but haven't done it many times, I think twice. I'll pick up some bird seed to keep in the car for when we go out on our adventures so we can feed them the right stuff!
I used to feed the ducks bread too, thinking its a good thing, but do not that anymore.
Good idea, buying some seeds and keeping them in the car.
Absolutely amazing place! Yeah, that looks cold alright! But the colors and textures are fantastic and beautiful!
It was actually a day that wasn't terrible which is good. We have had days here where it's gotten down to -10 or -20 degrees Celsius it's been pretty crazy!
Interesting, even though the snow is still there, the animal is still a live and can still find food, like post. Thank you.
Yeah we have animals that live here all year. Lots of birds are able to survive through different things. Sadly a lot of people feed the birds bad food like bread but it keeps them alive so they are here in the winter!
You promised that you would post warm, sunny photos from Italy. I need those RIGHT NOW :P
Here you go, here’s wonderful Tuscany Italy lol. I’ve been getting busier at work which is good for me mentally but bad for my posting. I dropped down to 4 posts scheduled! It wasn’t a good place for me to be hahaha.
I was there in July several years ago, not last year lol and damn it was hot and beautiful!
Thank you. I am done with snow posts :D
You getting some warmer weather over to the next few days? We are supposed to hit 50 here, potentially low 60's one of the days. Looking forward to it!
We had an amazing today- temperature wise. We went up to 55 I guess. But then we had a 10 cm of snowfall tonight. Back to zero again.
Yeah we had a beautiful day yesterday and it’s supposed to be decent today but snow tomorrow lol. Mother Nature is drunk! :D
