Today around noon, the husband asked me if I wanted to go with him to look for some material in a sound studio that is in a neighborhood of Caracas called La Carlota. This area of the city has always seemed to me to be stuck in time, and I like it. For years it has been an area where many Italians who emigrated to Venezuela in the mid-twentieth century lived.
The husband ended convinced me to go with him by telling me that we could eat pasta in a small Italian place that I love. So as I have been feeling a bit stressed with all that I have on my plate these days, but that is a topic for another post. I said let's go.
When we arrived, I thought of taking a walk around, after all, today is Wednesday Walk. So while the hubby went to the sound studio, I took a little walk.
As I said at the beginning, this area seems to be stopped in time. The buildings are only a few stories high.
There are many businesses in the area, but still, many people are living in the neighborhood.
The main avenue has a pedestrian walkway in the center. I decided to walk along it.
As I was walking along, these roots caught my attention. For some reason, the tree was cut down, but the roots are still there. And now, many plants, some with small wildflowers, are growing around them.
Something that I have always liked about this part of the city is that you can see that the people who live there, many have kept some customs that have endured despite the hectic city life. The group of people in the photo were playing on the avenue.
They were playing dominoes, and I couldn't resist taking a picture of them. So I crossed to the sidewalk in front so as not to be so intrusive.
I walked back over the walking path, and get almost to the end. The white wall that can be seen in the background was of the house that used to be the presidential house, called La Casona. But the president does not live there anymore. The last I heard is that now you can visit the gardens of the place. However, I didn't go near it because when we passed by in the car, I had seen that it was closed.
I crossed the avenue to one of the sidewalks. On the corner, it is this house that I have always liked.
Some time ago, I considered it a nice one for the location of a movie. But we ended up using another house in another neighborhood.
I went a little further down the street.
Some of the houses are a bit deteriorated, but I still like this area a lot.
At this point, my husband called me. He was ready and came by looking for me to go to lunch.
The food, as always, did not disappoint me. Simple and delicious, as if you were going to eat at the Italian Nonna's house. A vegetable minestrone and linguini, which they call on the phone pasta, I don't know why. It has Napoli sauce and is sautéed with mozzarella cheese.
Of course, my sweet tooth couldn't resist the temptation of a cannoli. I love them and have already written about the ones from this place on another occasion.
After this, we went back home.
Grogu was waiting for us. He was taking a nap, and although it was very tempting to join him, hehe. I had an appointment for this week's Talk Time with Tengo show with my friend @tengolotodo.

Here the streets are lush, we are used to it, but it is something that attracts attention.

Yeah, that area of town looks like it's stuck in the 50s. It's also a pretty safe area because that's where the presidential house was until Chavez decided to move to a military zone, and Maduro has done the same. But it is an area with a lot of surveillance, so nice for a walk.

The pictures are beautiful, the few buildings there look great. I noticed that people staying there were having good time too.
The feeling I always get there, and I see people playing dominoes in the street or chatting on a bench, is that people there live at a slower, more relaxed pace.

That's a beautiful neighbourhood! Perhaps the linguini is called on the phone pasta because the word means little tongues? It looks very tasty whatever they call it!
Well, after writing the post, I did a little search, and Al Telefono is for the sauce. It seems to be an Italian classic, and the reference is because the melted mozzarella cheese forms threads that resemble telephone wires.
