I went back to Quy Nhon-Binh Dinh city to see an old acquaintance since we needed to talk about any potential cooperative projects. He goes to work throughout the day, so I have more time to go around and find interesting things where he lives. I also drove through Nhon Hai town since I wanted to see the mountains near to the sea. Of course, I'll have to travel by motorcycle because I'll have to cross Vietnam's longest sea bridge, which connects the peninsula of Phuong Mai, as well as a long stretch of sand dunes to reach that mountain range. My hike only began when I got out of the car and began following the mountain trails (actually it is quite low about 100m and quite easy to walk without much effort).
There are two things that struck me about this:
- The first is poorly populated, whereas Vietnam is thickly populated. Despite the fact that the land is flat and the road infrastructure is adequate, few people reside here, owing to the harsh weather and geology. Looking out in all directions, I could feel the wind and semi-desert sand, as well as trees with the supple vitality of casuarina. Although it is winter and the sky is obscured by dense clouds, the whirling windmills are a tribute to the hardness of this area; it is still very hot. It would have been much hotter if it hadn't been for the nearby sea, and the lively seaside metropolis in the distance.
- The second item is the barren mountains, which may not surprise you, but they astonished me because I'm used to deep damp woods, plenty of shade, and a wide variety of flora and fauna. I used to believe that vistas of barren mountains with low, sparse vegetation could only be seen in deserts, severe environments, or cold climates. Perhaps the plants have had to adapt to the fact that it is sunlight all year (I brought a hammock with the intention of hooking it up to a tree to rest and relax). As I move from hill to hill, I don't recognize a single tree among them, despite the fact that there is little variety and only a few trees seem alike. Flowers with animals are nearly non-existent, with rocky terrain, dry bushes, and spiky grass being the most common.
It's a shame that you'll still see trash tossed around along the path; perhaps since it's deserted, people don't pay attention. To make place for a quarter of the little backpack I use to clean up garbage on the trails, I had to remove the picnic chair in my hand. If cows consume plastic bags holding leftovers while grazing freely on the hills, they are in grave danger. Inadvertently, the view of grasses and low bushes gives me a greater idea of being in touch with nature, heaven and earth, and climbing cows.
I feel smaller and more humble about life as I walk along the high and rocky rocks beside the sea. Nature and the sea both contain calm and noise, yet they are both peaceful, and they provide me with the priceless bliss of tranquility. I'll pause for a moment at each part to see nature's collision and abrasion as cliffs collide with waves. The water here isn't as clear in the winter, but if it's summer and the sun is shining, I'm prepared to risk my burnt skin to see it all.
This is a post for @tattoodjay @Wednesdaywalk challenge; have a great day hiking!
Thanks

I've seen so many beautiful places in this country that now it's on my travel list, someday, in this life!
This place is really beautiful, in its calmness.
Oh thank you very much, this land is really beautiful but also quite hot. But it is reasonable for short-term travel
Ohh ok, all clear now. I've read that there's quite hot but I also understood that there are people in the area, living there.
Must be such a contrast from other areas being so barren and sparsely populated but the views are beautiful
I get frustrated to finding trash people have left behind on trails and beaches I always carry a plastic bag in my camera bag that I can use to collect trash I find
Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)
A subtle and thoughtful gesture. I'm glad your hand is better @tattoodjay
Thank you
Have a great day
This place is quite primitive, isn't it?
