Hello everyone, how are you today?
It's Wednesday and we'll meet again on Wednesday Walk. Thanks to @tattoodjay for creating this interesting community. I haven't posted here for two weeks. Recently my dear friend, @sjarvie5, has been very active here, I'm happy about it and that's what motivated me to post today. Today I want to share with you a walk along the legendary Han River in Da Nang city where I live. Actually, I did this walk last Saturday, but I waited until today to share with you.
First let me introduce a little about Han River. The Han River is a legendary river that flows through the center of Da Nang city, dividing the city into two distinct areas. Currently, the busiest area of the city forms on both sides of the Han River. It is like the lifeline that gives life to the entire city. I think most of the tourists who come to Da Nang will come to the Han River at least once because there are many attractive destinations along both sides of the Han River and the bridges with special architecture that cross it. Along both sides of the Han River, the city government has also built wide sidewalks for pedestrians. People can come here to walk, see the beauty of the city, play chess, dance, take pictures, sing, art exhibitions, play with pets, hang out with friends,... Han River serves as an outdoor cultural center of Danang city. And I also enjoyed walking here very much.
Last Saturday night, my mother-in-law who lives about 600km from us visited us so I took her here to see the city and see the Dragon Bridge spit fire. Dragon Bridge is one of the unique architectural bridges spanning the Han River, now it has become one of the symbols of the city. And you know, every Saturday night, the Dragon Bridge over the Han River will spit fire. This is an interesting activity that attracts many locals and tourists when coming to Da Nang.
Dragon Bridge usually spits fire at around 9pm every Saturday night. Since its opening in 2013, the event has taken place every week and attracts a lot of people, except during the quarantine period because of the pandemic. On Saturday night, you'll see a lot of people gathering here for this event.
And at 9 o'clock, when the Dragon Bridge is about to spit fire, traffic on the bridge will be blocked, you can only walk on it. The busy road on the bridge will become deserted. People gathered at the dragon's head to see it spit fire and water. It's interesting, isn't it?
This event only lasts about 15-20 minutes and then traffic will quickly return to normal. People get on their vehicles and leave, pedestrians like us continue our exploration along the Han River.
In addition to Dragon Bridge, there are many other famous bridges on the Han River such as Thuan Phuoc Bridge, Han River Bridge and Tran Thi Ly Bridge. Among them, Han River Bridge and Tran Thi Ly Bridge are bridges located adjacent to Dragon Bridge, so we can easily reach them by foot. Thuan Phuoc Bridge is located quite far, so we couldn't walk there. Each of them has its own architecture and beauty, and together they connect the two parts of the city.
After exploring all the bridges we walked along the Han River to return to the parking lot. On Saturday night, the restaurants, cafes, bars, pubs on both sides of the Han River become more crowded. After a working week, many people choose to come here to relax with friends and family, we are no exception. Going to many places, I can say Da Nang is one of the few cities where people have a very comfortable and relaxing life maybe because we are lucky to have such a wonderful place as the Han River.
Well, we had a great walk at the Han River. I was very happy that my mother-in-law enjoyed the walk. You know, in Vietnam, pleasing the mother-in-law is a very important thing for sons-in-law. Thank you for taking the time to read my post, have a nice Wednesday!

The dragon bridge is pretty cool and it spits fire… wow.
I did see a dragon bridge not that long ago in Sevilla, with mosaic. But no fire there.
Will post it one day. You reminded me of the photos I took of it 😉😁
