Hello walkers and friends!
It's Wednesday again, and it's time to share another new walk, another route through another inspiring place, we visit familiar or new places, but there is always something that surprises us. A nice moment to enjoy the surroundings and after sharing it thanks to @tattoodjay and the #WednesdayWalk community.
The walk through the downtown of a big city happened this past Monday, the day I went to the city, I live in a smaller town now but from time to time I return to the place that was my city for many years, the third largest city in Spain (clue 1)
, do you know what it is?
It is very pleasant to be able to walk through these streets, especially on days with blue sky and bright sunlight, something characteristic of this place. Because that way the most beautiful places look even more beautiful, color stands out, in the city whose own hymn says that it is "the land of flowers, light and love" (clue 2)
. It's true.
So in the heart of it, in the most frenetic area, in the busiest streets of the center, where there are more shops and companies, we discover a beautiful park, the Parterre (clue 3)
, now in spring certainly with many flowers and a lot of color but where a great monument stands out. An equestrian statue, of a great historical figure on horseback. It is about James I the Conqueror (clue 4)
who liberated the city from the Muslim "yoke" (as it is written there) back in 1238 if I remember correctly from the history lessons at school, a character who even influenced the flag of the region for some events and his feats.
We continue to discover one of the most gigantic giant ficus that must be in this city, it is immense, it can be seen if we compare its large trunk and immense branches with the rest of the objects that are around it. Surely this wonder tree has witnessed much of that history as it must be hundreds of years old.
We realize the intensity of the sun, everything shines yes, but it is quite hot at those central hours of the day, I am surprised to see how we go from 31ºC to 32ºC already on these dates, although everything is very changeable in hours, and every day something different. This is the Mediterranean spring. (clue 5)
In the distance, an elegant and classic building, the Palace of Justice, but we continue ahead and see another beautiful building with the Spanish flag on top that we can already see from afar, it is the General Captaincy, the main building of the military hierarchy in the city, which was quite the protagonist of an event with tanks that took place back on February 23, 1981, but that's another story... (clue 6)
We look at the blue sky again and let ourselves go, perhaps it is time to change course, to turn down that other street, to see more buildings with a delicate and charming design, from different periods, with unique details, or more precious flowers, or another element that suddenly surprises us.
We continue walking, fanning ourselves, with our hand on our forehead to cast a shade, knowing what we will find or perhaps not...
Do you know which city I'm on a walk?
Thanks for reading! Have an inspiring and nice day.
Happy Wednesday!
Nice and historic place, lots of beautiful old buildings, it looks like the weather is quite hot. Thank you.greetings.
Thanks! Happy you like it, a big city but still pleasant and possible to walk around there, although it was too hot, some hours these days are hot, on the shadow much less... 😉 Happy Wednesday!
Thank you are welcome.greetings.
Wednesday Walk but I need to go through the rules and regulations of each community.
Duvinca is it you in the last picture? Looking nice :) the temperature of this place seems hot. Stay hydrated and safe.
Happy Wednesday!!!!Hey! @duvinca I enjoyed your walking exprince today. You are in Valencia,Spain. I'm newbie and looking forward to also share my walking experience in @tattoodjay community
Yes exactly! It was easy 😅 well hope you can post also your walk, yes that's true each community has its own rules, sometimes we can get confused.

I love Valencia. I miss the hot weather in the south of Spain. I'm jealous. :D
Thanks! Happy you like it! Well these last days the air is fresher, better otherwise summer is too looong 😅
Have you been here much time?
My family went there last year and 2 years ago in October just to escape cold France. We stayed in Calp but went to Valencia for a day trip. :D We visited other cities as well.
Oh good really, Calpe is also cool 😎 👌
Yes, a beautiful place :D
Salud
Muchas gracias Xavi, me alegro que te guste. Sí incluso yo paseando de nuevo por los sitios de siempre me doy cuenta de detalles... ¡Saludos!
I see the local language is Catalan. And it doesn't look like Tarragona, nor Barcelona.
So it must be Valencia.
The photographs are as good as the weather. It's about 12 degrees here, 2 megameters to the north.
If I remember correctly, that ficus tree belongs to the dog in my picture. It could have been a different ficus, but I know one of those trees is his.
Yeah Valencia, good observer about language... the major of the city was born in Cataluña and many like him receive money to make this region part of the catalan delusions but making this place poorer.
Anyway, the weather is fantastic, at least in shadow areas the air is still very fresh and during nights 😅
About the ficus, there are just few like this one, two more very close actually but not many more, I didn't know that belongs to your dog!
The dog, yeah, he owns half of Europe. Dogs demarcate their territory with smells, simply ... well, you know how. They piss on it! 😁
He does not need that tree anymore though. He died on February 25, 2013.
I tried to grow a seed from that tree, but it didn't work. I must have done something wrong.
Ohhh well so true... dogs mark their own territories better than borders and so on jaja sad to know he is not here well at least you have many memories of him. 🤗❤
Beautiful Valencia!😊 It reminds me a bit of Belgrade, but the temperature is quite high... The giant ficus tree is beautiful, it's amazing that it has been preserved for so many years. Hope you are doing well my friend, hugs!🤗
Yesss I was doing things in downtown and at the same time walking and taking some photos, and as usual good weather well too much good... during some hours it's hot 🔥 at least under some umbrella the air still very fresh 😊 Hope also you are great, big hug dear, thanks a lot !HUG
I sent 1.0 HUG
(1/3)Dear @jelenaa, you just got hugged. on behalf of @duvinca.
A nice walk and how beautiful Valencia looks. I hope someday I will be able to visit it 😍
And wow that ficus tree! If it could talk, how much it could tell.
Yes some parts in downtown are really beautiful, specially those nice classic buildings and the giant ficus like this one, there is another in front of this park! Maybe in other walk always under that super sunlight! Thanks a lot dear friend, really I hope you can visit my city, then, let me know!!! 😊❤️
I have only visited a couple of cities in Spain but one of them I spent a bit of time in and so it helped me to recognize this is Valencia, such a beautiful city as you so well highlight with this post
Thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk, its my pleasure to host it and see all the posts each week from all around the world, including yours, if you have time visit some of the other walks this week there are so many interesting ones
Oh really? Glad to know you like my city 🤗❤ I had to do things in that area and in the meantime enjoying walking through those familiar streets in good day as usual. Thanks a lot!
I worked for peacekeeping for the UN for 30 Years, and we had an office in Valencia which I visited a few times, loved my time there
Oh really? that's fantastic! And it's nice you have good memories here 🤗

Haha, I won’t guess the city, cause my geography is so bad, but it sure is a beautiful Wednesday walk around it 😍💙
Jajaja don't worry it is not a mystery just my former city, I was there the other day (time to time) and while I was doing all I planned I was also walking around and taking some photos, so simple (and already so hot) 🤗💛
Simple yet beautiful 😍😘💙
