For our #wednesdaywalk initiated by @tattoodjay, we decided to have a short walk to find the Toad's Mouth! We parked up near Hathersage, and walked along the road. It was quite frosty and lots of cars whizzing past. Crossing the road was even more difficult with only a narrow pavement at the other side.
On the corner, we found the Toad's Mouth, which is actually a rock! It had one eye carved into it but nobody knows how the eye got there.
Unfortunately, to get closer to it I had to climb over a stone stile but it was covered in ice. I just didn't want to risk it.
The brook was in full flow. It looked a nice walk on the other side of the wall but it was far too cold and icy today. It will have to wait for another day.
Precariously, we made our way back up the road. People drive far too fast these days, especially in icy conditions.
Thankfully, we made it back in one piece.
Very cold and slippery! This place should look very nice in spring!
Bring it on! 😁
It really looks like a toad!
So snowy there.
Yes, and we've driven past it many times and never noticed it. 😁
😁 Yeah, we don't often notice things around us until we discover it. Hehe
Very true. 🙂
Brrr looks so cold, probably very sensible not to try and climb up over the ice
what a cool rock
Thanks for joining the Wednesday, its always fun for me to visit the walks from all around the world, getting a feel for communities where people live and what they see on their daily walks
Thank you, and the good news is that I didn’t get run over. 😁
that of course is great news
Looks like a nice bit of snow there - and I love the rock !!!
