Wednesday Walk: Village Pond Walks

in Wednesday Walk10 months ago

For my #wednesdaywalk initiated by @tattoodjay I had a walk around the various village ponds this morning. Down at the big Stubbing Pond people feed the birds on a regular basis so it's always a good spot to do a bit of bird watching.

The nuthatch is my favourite bird, and there's several down there. They don't seem to be too concerned that people are about.

Lots of little dunnocks there as well.

The robins weren't too aggressive today and allowed some birds to get a bit of food.

A moorhen flew up from the pond to hoover up the seed from the floor.

A wood pigeon also came to see what all the fuss was about.

Moving down to the village lido, a chap was feeding the birds. There is a young cygnet down here that is old enough to fend for itself. It can fly but only short distances at the moment. It's the only surviving one from last year's brood. Daddy Swan wants it gone, so it was chasing it off the lido. The chap was making sure it got enough food. I think he's visiting most days at the moment.

A couple of moorhens were having a fight. It was quite funny because a coot ended up splitting them up. I expect it was getting fed up with all the racket.

There's snow forecast tomorrow, so I have my fingers crossed for a bit of the white stuff!

These are some lovely crisp shots, that make the nature and wildlife all more interesting:)

I was lucky that I had somewhere to sit. If I stand up my hands shake. 😁

What a beautiful walk next to the town ponds. How great that the birds are feeding and you have been able to take beautiful photographs of them.
What beautiful birds you have there dear friend @ellenripley, excellent shots, I appreciate that you let us know

Lovely birds showing off their bright feathers. The big birds seem to be very energetic today. They are probably bored by the calm and quiet atmosphere. 😂

I'm glad they felt energetic because I wasn't. It was so cold. 😀
