A comforting thought

I got out of the door early in the morning, earlier than usual. The town was quiet, the weather was gloomy and the dog was anxious for his walk. I chose our less usual route. Uphill at the medieval fortification and the untended, open space within, that resembles a meadow, especially this time of the year. For one more time I neglected to take a camera with me and I felt sorry I didn't as soon as I reached the top of the hill. The overcast weather turned out to be much more interesting than I thought and for one more time I had to take a few pictures with my phone or don't take them at all.

I guess you all know, by now, what I decided to do.

The wildflowers were all over the place, mostly daisies but some poppies too and a few others that I don't know their names. In any case the scenery was much more colourful than the summer or the winter and despite the clouds on the sky, spring was robustly present.

The sun is part of our daily life here, on the coasts of the Mediterranean sea and I tend to forget how "exotic" I find, some times, the moody weather. And this was one of those times.

I don't know why we don't come here more often. The view is great, it is usually quiet and the dog is ecstatic since it is one of the very few places in the town that he can run off-leash.

Actually I know why I avoid this route. It is the steep climb that discourages me and I just find it too much for a casual morning walk. But maybe it is better that way. Saving it for special occasions. After all, if we were there every day we would probably get bored of it both the dog and myself.

OK, probably not the dog but lets keep that comforting thought.

I took those pictures yesterday morning but since it is Wednesday now, let's call it my contribution to the #wednesdaywalk challenge, hosted by @tattoodjay, who urges us to get out once a week, for a short walk and capture a few pictures of what we see! A lovely idea and a nice excuse to do the two things that I enjoy anyway. Walking and taking pictures!

I took those pictures with a Redmi Note 12s mobile phone and edited them in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic.

All the pictures and the words are mine.

Thank you for reading and if you want to know more about me you can check out my introduction post.

Thanks for joining the Wednesday walk
Have a great day

We always miss what we don't have :)

Thank you!

Beautiful! Love the preset (filter). My favorite:

It has a special kind of mood — it feels like I was fighting my way through dense thickets, and then suddenly this wonderful vista opened up before me, and I froze in awe. There is also a sense of great height here - the (imaginary) abyss beyond the cacti.

Thank you!

Interesting that you chose this one. Actually that's the first picture that I took and got me in the mood of photographing. You are not far from the truth at your description, it was less dramatic though and definitely less poetic :)

Yes the presets are a nice bonus in lightroom. I messed a bit with it but it is basically FT1 with some extra grain and a vignette. I think it served well the mood I was after. Below is the picture as it came out of the phone.

Yeah, served well the mood - the original image is less atmospheric, although it has some mood too.

You just caught all of my attention via these flowers and the nature's touch in your walk today.
How I love flowers, so beautiful in any environment.

I enjoyed your walk actually. 😊

I am glad you enjoyed it!
