This is Methoni and it offers an irresistible summerish package. Mesmerising sea, amazing beach, a charming little town and a medieval castle! And today I am inviting you for a walk around it, through my pictures and my words.

Let's start from the beach and the castle that is practically attached to it!

And now let's shake the sand off our feet and take a look at the settlement itself. It was July when I took those pictures and in the middle of the day. Obviously most of the people were either at the beach or taking a nap (our famous siesta time). But anyway I prefer taking pictures on empty roads, much less distractions :)

Of course walking in the heat of the noon during the Greek summer is not a very wise thing to do but in this case I actually enjoyed it! Let alone that the summer trips are about to begin and I am looking forward for some sweating to come!

I am putting here a link with all the historical facts that may interest you but most probably will get you bored. If you have read a few of my posts about Greece you should know by now the general idea. Populated for thousands of years, wars (lots of them), occupiers (mainly Venetians and Ottomans) and nowadays tourists (also lots of them) 😀

Overall I would describe Methoni as a neat place. The houses and the roads are well taken cared (in the picture above is the exception that proves the rule) and the vibe is definitely relaxing. An adorable place for calm and restful vacation! You know the kind I mean. Sea, sun, good food, sleep and all over again and again till it is time to go back home :)

Methoni! Looks like a great place to get some relaxation and enjoy the peace and sunshine. The castle overlooking the sea is wonderful. I would like to wander the empty streets, more space for me to enjoy its beauty!

Thank you very much for stopping by @lara88 :)

Brave you for being out in that heat… middle of the summer. I so know, as it’s like that in south Spain too.
The beach and castle are stunning, great views.
It is nice to be able to photograph without to many tourists. 😎What a beautiful place @fotostef 😁👋🏻 The streets and houses are just adorable ☺️

Of course you know a thing or two about summer heat yourself :)Thanks a lot @littlebee4!

Wow, how cool is this bridge 🤩

The same goes for Spanish summer too

Yes of course, you know that very well :)

Yes, I know :D

These days it was bit better, but seems that the warm weather is coming back :))

Never heard of the place before but it looks amazing and the sky is incredible. Any chance you could do us a favour and post some shit photos once in a while, just to make the rest of us feel a bit better about our own rubbish!
Best wishes :-)

Haha, thank you very much for the vote of confidence, means a lot!
I am glad you enjoyed the post :)

Those steep streets :D for 4 days i was staying at "the top" of Barbati, Corfu. I thought my heart will pop out getting back from the beach 😂. Especially evil is that you go up at the end of the day 😄

Haha, I guess our ancestors that built those villages, were a bit masochists :)

they were probably used to it. But when you come from a area where 50m is a serious altitude change it is rough :D
