#Wednesdaywalk in the city of Brughes

This week I have quite a special #wednesdaywalk since we're a couple of days in Belgium with the family. Our wednesday walk was in the beautiful city of Brughes.

The day started off overcast and rainy, but as soon as we arrived the sun came through.
Here's a view of the former hospital. It dates from the mid 12th century and is preserved so well.

There are canals all through the city which is very nice. I even spotted this building that had a canal running underneath.

I really like all the old buildings. Here is another shot from the former hospital. The building is now a museum. Some of the doctors of the past are honored with a bust.

I really like the narrow streets and the beautiful decorations like this port.

Here's another example of the rich decorations of the buildings. This was the entrance of another museum.

I also spotted this water pump in the shape of a swan.

And here's a view of the central square. In the right you can see the bell tower and to the left is the former province court.

Beautiful photos! I spent a day rhere once years ago. Thanks for refreshing my memories of the beauty of Brughes.

Thanks. I've been there before, but it still is attractive.

Such a nice place I love all the history and those narrow streets so cool to explore

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)

What a nice little town :) Is it always so quiet? I don't see any traffic :)

There is almost no traffic in the city center. There were quite some people, so I had to wait until I could take shots without them 😉

It sounds nice :) ... Traffic can really ruin a good place.

Oh WOW, what a seriously striking and sumptious place that looks like!

The architecture is just superb and the history so intriguing.

It must have felt so enchanting walking through all of that splendor and the stories that those walls could tell...

Thanks. I really like visiting cities that have a rich history like Brughes.

And I can't wait to visit such ancient cities as although the first Australians have been here for about 70k years, there are very little traditional sights and significant areas that are still around (or that we can visit) and certainly no buildings, let alone cities...so I can't wait for the day that I can see the history of Europe as the European invasion of Australia only took place just over a couple of hundred years ago so our historical buildings are no where near as old....
