It was almost lunchtime when I arrived back home from attending a quick appointment in the neighboring province. Gentle wind blows expiating the heat from the sun. The day was bright and sunny.
We decided to take the lesser known path. It is also the shortest that leads to home. However, it is a private property and sometimes the gates are locked. But that fine day, we got lucky. The gate was wide open as if welcoming us.
On our way home, we passed my a few flowering plants.
The birds of paradise are my favorite in this road. It was one of those plants that I used to see a lot as a kid. Back in the days, I thought they are just wild grass with beautiful flowers but these days I cannot see anymore of this anywhere. Happy to have seen one these while walking home! | SDD - Walk 2.png |

There are also these huge hibiscus, gumamela in our local term. They grow beautifully in a hot weather.
They are so abundant in the country that, also, at some point of my childhood, I also considered them some type of grass. |

We just passed by the "Bulaklakan" or the Purok 5. Don't know if it's a thing in other countries but in the Philippines, places have its alias. The alias of area, Bulaklakan (pertaining to flowers), according to the locals, came from plenty of flowers that can be found here back in the days. Too bad I was not able to witness that.
Finally, we made it to the banana trees. These are like my markers. When I see plenty of bananas, that means I am nearing home.
Our area is called "Saba" for a reason. Saba is a variety of plantain and its abundance in our place gave birth to its alias. Although the bananas are not as plenty as before, the fragments of the past still remains.
That small path past the post leads to the private property behind our house. I was not able to take photos because of the cows that I was trying to run away from (LOL).
Just today, I heard a news that the gate was permanently closed, too bad, because it was our shortcut. I hope they will open it again for us.
This is all for now. I will snap some photos next time from inside the fence for you to see what's on the other side.
Thank you so much for walking with me. Hope you liked the snippets from our neighborhood. :)
