Wednesday Walk

It is Chor 1, the first day of the Lunar Calendar!

So it is when the Chinese all over the world celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year. Our family is not excluded as well. This year, everything seems to be simpler and easier for my end, though getting 3 children and 2 adults ready was still quite a hustle.

I don't mind all the dress ups and especially like to synchronize the colour code of the clothes theme as a family. This year for the first day, I went with all of us having the red Chinese knot on our traditional clothing. What drained me out was actually the children's non-stop talking and questions while we were getting ready.

After we got changed, we took some family photos, just as 5 of us first.

Then I told myself I must remember to bring along all the gifts for my husband's aunts and their families. Anyway we made it to my parents-in-laws house by 1030am. Quite an accomplishment already.

So there was distribution of angpaos or red paclets as a sign of blessing, followed by the prayer pf blessing by my father-in-law.

Here is our clan group photo before leaving their house.

The weather was extra windy today so my boys were enjoying the strong wind at the corridor.

Next stop: Eldest Aunt's House

It is a special arrangment that we go and visit the eldest aunt on the 1st day. Reason being for the past years we used to gather and eat at her place on new year's eve for reunion. Now as her age has advanced much and she doesn't feel as strong as before, we decided to remove the cooking and eating together but to just go in to have a relaxing time to catch up and chit chat. This is really a very good idea to reduce the load on them actually.

The baby took a nap, like finally after trying to stay awake the whole time because she is not in her usual schedule and places.

My father-in-law again prayed for everyone .

Then a group photo together , before we left her house for our lunch in the mall.

Third stop: Sukiya Bowls in Setapak Central

This is a place I have been wanting to try for meals but I seldom eat out after the baby has come. This place serves really good gyudon (beef slices with rice bowl) and ramen and yakiniku kind of cooking as well as the famous karaage chicken.

The boys went ahead to occupy a table by themselves without us adults but we were sitting in another table next to them.
The sis-in-law and my mother-in-law were helping me to entertain the baby. I was about to zone out after too many hours out hahaha.

The center court of the mall is so beautifully decorated with CNY vibes. Their deocration this year is very impressive and they even equipped a chinese drum for us to try on. Of course my boys loved it.

After lunch, we all came home to rest. With a baby as young as 9 months old, rest is a must. We managed to take some photos outside our parking with good sunlight as well.

Entertainment after dinner

We had a super simple dinner which was instant noodles hahaha. Such comfort food when we are tired is kind of rewarding.

After that, the boys especially my secondborn was so looking forward to playing sparklers that I got for them. It was rather windy so the candle went off, hence we had to light stick by stick with the lighter. Even my husband and I got to play, though we are adults hahaha.

After that, we went back home and just relaxed as a family together in the hall while the baby roamed her way everywhere.

All in all, we had a blast! I realize simple itinerary now works better for us, especially now we have 3 children. Though I cannot go home and be united with my own family, our hearts are still connected.

Happy New Year what a wonderful way to spend the day with family, very nice memories made with plenty photographs to remember in years to come.

Beautiful family! Thanks for sharing some insight as to how you celebrate together.

Yes I will surely won't regret looking back at these photos one day, especially after the effort of dressing up everyone and to match each other hahaha. Thank you!

Easier to match each other to stand out in the crowd. !LOLZ

I sent my girlfriend a 'Get Better' card.
She's not sick, or anything - I just think she can get better..
