I am originally from Caduawan, Tabogon, Cebu but since January of this year, I've been living in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City in the Philippines because of my corporate job. It has become like a second home to me, providing a safe and comfortable space that's almost as close to my heart as my real home. I love that my apartment is conveniently situated near the market, grocery, pharmacy, and other essential places. Today, let me take you on a tour of Lahug, Cebu City as I wander its streets. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure where to go, but I plan to start at the market and decide from there. I'll see what's available and make a choice from the options presented to me.

The first four photos I have above is my everyday view, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or more known as the Mormons Temple-Lahug. They also provided a traffic enforcer for their church-goers who also assists other people as well, regardless if it is not their church-goers. Like me, everytime I want to cross the road, the traffic endorser will help me pass by. Thankful for all that he does for the community.

When I walk around, especially on the streets, I always make sure to find a designated pedestrian lane. I have witnessed numerous instances of people crossing the roads recklessly on lanes that are not meant for pedestrian traffic, which can be very dangerous and lead to accidents. As a responsible motorcycle owner with a valid driver's license, I have undergone proper driving training and lessons. It frustrates me to see other motorcyclists or drivers who do not stop or yield to pedestrians on designated lanes. During driving lessons, it is emphasized that drivers should always pave the way for pedestrians. The pedestrian lanes are there for a reason and should not be treated as just a design element on the road.

Upon walking in the street, I stumbled upon my favorite bakery. I bought my favorite cheese streusel, which was sold for six pesos each. I bought two pieces, and I ate them while I was walking along the road. Do you know that most of us Filipinos eat breakfast almost twice? We pre-breakfast snacks, eat bread, and pair it with hot coffee or hot chocolate. It has always been part of our morning routine to grab some bread and hot coffee or hot chocolate and then eat breakfast - with rice and vayand. I don't think all of us do this, but I think the majority of Filipino household does. Walking around the streets was fun eating my favorite cheese streusel.

This is in Sudlon, Lahug, Cebu City. This is the way to Department Of Education Regional Office Region 7. The Teachers of Region 7 Central Visayas in the Philippines have their official transactions processed in this building. This location also houses multiple government offices in Lahug, making it a hub for all government agencies in the area. Being conveniently located, it is easily accessible from my apartment, which is just a short walk away. I have personally walked to the Department of Education for my errands in the past few months, due to its close proximity.

In Lahug, Cebu City, Philippines, there are numerous establishments to explore. Banks are in abundance, and so are the accessible ATM machines. The local 7/11 store is located below the bank building. Additionally, there are several chain outlets in the vicinity, providing plenty of food options. Pharmacies and grocery shops are also easily accessible in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City Philippines. In my opinion, Lahug is one of the best cities in Cebu province due to its safe environment and easily accessible locations. Located in the heart of Lahug is a gasoline station that is easily accessible to all, including motorcycle drivers, due to its proximity to the street. JY, a renowned supermarket and grocery store, is also situated nearby in Lahug offering a vast selection of fresh products, produce, and grocery items. Additionally, there are business process outsourcing companies in the vicinity that not only provide convenience to the locals but also create employment opportunities for all. Walking around Lahug, you will encounter people of different nationalities. Mostly Koreans and Japanese, because there is an English Academy above the JY supermarket.

After strolling from my apartment for about 10-15 minutes, I finally reached Lahug Market. The market may not be as huge as other markets in Cebu City, but it has everything you need for your household. Lahug’s market offers a wide range of fish, meat, and seafood selections, as well as fresh vegetables and fruits sold at affordable prices. Follow me as I take you through some of the stalls inside Lahug Market.

Upon entering, I noticed a woman selling rice cakes and other Filipino delicacies. These treats are among our favorites, and they are sold at reasonable prices. They make for a great snack or breakfast and can also be given as a pasalubong or a gift to friends and family. Personally, my favorite Filipino delicacy is the nilusak which is mashed bananas topped with coconut bits. It's a perfect 10 out of 10, and I highly recommend it.

I came across another vendor selling freshly picked flowers from Busay, a remote barangay in Lahug, Cebu City. These flowers are highly affordable and of good quality. I strongly encourage you to consider buying from such small business owners. Supporting local enterprises is crucial, and I highly recommend it to everyone.

The fish and seafood section in the photos shows only a limited selection, with approximately six to eight fish vendors and two seafood stalls available in Lahug Market, Cebu City. Despite the limited options, the selection is fresh and affordable, which is enough for me. While I walk around the market, I enjoy discovering new products, even if I can't buy everything I want. Today, I'll focus on getting what I need, something for breakfast.

What’s for breakfast?

Upon walking on the market, I passed by the meat section, and I happened to see these fresh pork bones for 200 pesos per kilo. I bought half of it, and I already had it in mind. What's for breakfast? I'm going to cook pork bone soup. I also bought some vegetables to pair it with. I love to eat rice with hot soup, so this would be perfect for breakfast.

I walked back home bringing all the things I bought at the market: pork bones, vegetables, and seasonings.

On my way home, I saw this man fetching water and he was accompanied by his two dogs. I am an animal lover as well and I love dogs in particular. It made me so happy seeing the man accompanied by his two dogs. Dogs are indeed man’s best friend.

I prepared the ingredients I need for my pork bone soup. I then cooked it and after a tiring walk, I ate breakfast.

Here is my breakfast.

Nice, you have found a perfect place to stay. Its good too that it is close with the market, easy nalang mamalengke if ever. By the way, nilusak sa inyo while its nilupak naman dito sa samin sa mindoro uwu. Bat iba iba kaso no, lol. And gosh, the bones soup looks really awesome. Pero nagataka ako coz it has luya? Curioud ako sa lasa. Magkano pala kilo ng buto buto sa inyo? Kasim namam tawag nila yan dito samin, not sure why din haha

I so love how the Philippines indeed has such a diverse culture.🤗♡ I am renting here almost one year soon, and yes indeed I love it that I am acessible to almost everywhere. We call it “nilusak” here in Cebu for the mashed bananas with some coconut tidbits and we call the bones “nilat-an”, it is two hundred pesos per kilo and I only bought half because there is just two of us who’ll eat it. I indeed added ginger to add more flavoring and spice. Half a kilo is enough for both of us :) Hope to visit Mindoro soon by the way ♡

That's very nice, goos thing you found that place first hehe. Ohhh, mejo mahal pero not bad na rin, skl, 175klo samin hehe. Hope that happen soon ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ

Prices are quite expensive here in Cebu City. You should visit here as well!♡
