Hi Hiveians!
It feels great to be back on this page! This is actually my second time posting here, and I truly appreciate all the warm welcomes and kind words I received from my first post.
I hope you’ll enjoy reading this one too — so let’s jump right in!
Walking on the streets..
I first came to Cebu back in 2012, and I remember seeing so many buildings still under construction at that time. Now that I’ve had the chance to visit again, I’m amazed by how much the city has transformed. It has truly become a bustling place. I used to live somewhere on T. Padilla Street, and even there, businesses are thriving, thanks to the growing population.
Cebu has provided many opportunities that have changed people's lives. Honestly, I've never been to any city quite like Cebu. I haven't been to Manila either, which they say is much bigger than Cebu—but maybe someday, why not? Hehe.
Health is wealth..
After a long 8-hour shift where I'm sitting the entire day, I find that taking a walk is the perfect way to unwind and recharge. It’s something I genuinely look forward to as it gives me a break from being in one spot for so long. I usually sleep from 11 am to 7 pm, so I feel well-rested when I take that time to step outside.
Walking helps me clear my mind and stretch my muscles, which is essential after being sedentary for hours. Plus, it brings a wave of fresh air and a change of scenery, which really helps lift my mood and ease any tension from the day. It’s a simple yet effective way to boost physical and mental well-being, giving me a renewed sense of energy and focus.
New environment..
It’s already been a month since I arrived here in Cebu, and I’m still in the process of adjusting to the lifestyle and environment. I’m currently staying in a small boarding house in Day-as, with rent ranging from 3,000 to 3,500 pesos per month. It’s not too fancy, but it’s comfortable enough for me. One good thing about my place is its convenient location — it’s close to almost everything I might need.
Carbon and Colon are just nearby, making it easy for me to buy essentials or explore whenever I have free time. The pier is also within reach, which is great if ever I decide to travel by sea. There are several restaurants around, so food is never a problem, and pharmacies are just a short walk away in case of emergencies. Churches and the health center are also close, adding to the convenience.
Despite being in a fairly accessible area, I still haven’t had the chance to explore much. My current routine is pretty much just work-sleep-work. After my shift, I tend to prioritize getting enough rest, so I haven’t been able to go out and make friends yet. It’s a bit boring at times, but I know I need to get proper sleep to stay healthy and energized for work. Hopefully, once I’ve fully adjusted and settled in, I’ll be able to explore more, meet new people, and experience what Cebu has to offer. For now, I’m just taking it one day at a time.
Ending thoughts..
As I slowly settle into this new environment and adjust to my daily routine, I’m realizing that it’s all part of the process. It may feel a bit monotonous right now — working, sleeping, and repeating the cycle — but I know this phase won’t last forever.
Eventually, I’ll find my rhythm, make new friends, and discover the hidden gems of Cebu. For now, I’m embracing the small moments, like my peaceful walks after work, and appreciating the convenience of having everything I need close by. It’s a reminder that even in the midst of adjustment, there’s still beauty in simple routines and in knowing that new experiences are just around the corner.
Closing..
Thank you for taking the time to read my little update about my life here in Cebu. Adjusting to a new place isn’t always easy, but I know it’s part of the journey. I appreciate all the support, and if you enjoyed this post, feel free to upvote, leave a comment, or even reblog to share with others. Every bit of support means a lot! See you on my next post — hopefully, I’ll have more stories and experiences to share by then. Take care!
