We started the walk to the Church of St. Mary the Virgin Cemetery by climbing up these steps from the Stone Church grounds.
Found another plight of steps but the gate was closed. There isn't any signage as to what is up there so we just took a photo and turned left.
That's the entrance in the distance.
It said "No Entry" but the swing barrier gate was open. There wasn't anyone to collect our entrance fees. It's New Year's Day that's why. But we entered anyway.
Whilst my companions walked fast ahead, I took time and walked slowly. Photographed these blooms at the side of the track.
While following the track, I looked back to see if there's anyone coming when I noticed a dog walking behind me. He stops and walks as I do but doesn't really come close.
So we (me and my new pal, the dog) just walked at our own pace until we saw two ahead of us.
We met a few coming back from the direction we were headed to. Couldn't help but took this shot discreetly after we said hello and went on our ways. My new pal (the dog) gave them the way.
We walked further and turning into the curve, we saw our companions and a sign board far ahead.
On getting close, here's what the signage (board) says.
A young man was on his way back and my friend (dog) is far behind. He's quite the shy type and won't even bark.
From where the board was located, there's a path to the left.
And another to the right and we saw people going up the stairway so off we went and followed them. A couple of tombs lined up along that trail.
The stairway was paved with nicely arranged stones. Pine needles scattered over most of them.
We stopped for a wee while to catch our breath and looked back to where the signage was. My dog pal was nowhere to be seen. Perhaps he decided to follow the young man we met earlier. Also caught on the photo is a tomb with fresh flowers on top and two partially melted candles which may have been lighted a day ago or so.
Then we continued up to be met by these sights. More tombs of various shapes and sizes. Most of them painted, others were not.
Was eerie up there that we fell quiet as we spread our eyes over and around the place and took photos too, of course! The landscape which is kinda nice. We observed on the tombs that there were people of the 18th century who were buried there. The oldest we have seen was a tomb of a certain person born in 1821.

The beaten track where those few people are is leading towards Echo Valley.
We noticed the beautiful blooms of bougainvillea adorning some of the tombs as we passed by.
We then proceeded to the Hanging Coffins which I wrote about sometime ago. And when we came back, we took these shots.
Following the other track (we didn't take the stairway which we walked on when we came up), we took these photos of the WWII Veterans Tomb.
There were other people too.
We took a closer look (and shot)...
Then we continued on our trek towards the trail going down.
Captured this plant on the side of that track.
Glimpse of tombs below the trail. Some ferns growing between them.
"LET IT BE KNOWN" it said somewhere on that trail, whatever it is referring to.
We continued with our walk and we are now approaching the curve.
We saw an interesting tree with some weird-looking branches. Kept on with our walk. The curve incoming.
From here, we can see in the distance the stairway which we climbed up earlier.
We walked forward and closer, then took a photo of this fern by the side of the track and moved on.
One final look back from where we came from, took a photo of it and retraced our way back to the church grounds.
The walk had been solemn and sublime and we were mostly quiet out of respect for the place and those who are laid on it. We did have a small chuckle when my niece commented "oh, that's a nice name" as she read one of the writings on the tombs and her mom asked, "would you want to change your name with it?" which made us laugh a bit.

Who would have thought that a cemetery can be a good place to walk to. Oh that dog a new friend who accompany you in your walk.
That's true. It has become one of the attractions of that place because of the Hanging Coffins. And yeah, the dog is quite shy hehe.

I kept reading hoping Dog pal would come back. Awww. I missed him immediately. And that was such a fun walk.

In those photographs, the place is looking very beautiful and cool. But I am quite sure many people may get afraid visiting such kind of place in the time of night. Who knows, If any ghosts appear from somewhere😂.

These photos looks like am seeing a movie, I am sure you enjoyed your Walk, I don't think I can walk on these paths alone without being in a company of people.
