Strolling Through Our Local Market | A Small Win

in Wednesday Walk2 years ago (edited)

Hello Hive!

There was a little spice to my week, this was something I truly missed having.

On one fine morning on a weekday, I got the time to go to a wet market and had a short fascinating, and bracing stroll around. I couldn't remember when was the last time I had it, and it felt so refreshing to have ever done it again after a long time.

Days before this, I had been craving for "Pork Sinigang' (sour soup made from cuts of pork along with some veggies). It has been raining in our place lately every afternoon, and I really wanted that sour soup of "Sinigang" for the rainy weather, for me it's perfect!

Fortunate I am that there is a wet market that's just a few minutes away from our place. So, on a morning after breakfast, I went to the market, and with me was my younger sister. While walking our way there, there was this feeling of being able to have relaxed for a while and paused from the usual routine. It was something that was giving me a feeling of freedom, and you know, it felt really awesome.

Yes, living life at a rocket pace is the trend, and I am no exception to that. It always seemed like breathing and pausing have no space for running through work responsibilities and social obligations. And you know, oftentimes, it is consuming.

So there at the market, I strolled around for like 30 minutes, had bought Kangkong, Horse radish, String Beans, Onion, Garlic, Finger Pepper, Lemon Grass, Taro, and the not-so-secret ingredient for the dish, Sinigang mix. Everything on my list had been checked already, but I couldn't stop roaming around and checking on some items there. I have always been passing by this place going to the workplace and going home, but this time, it was different. It felt like I owned the time and there was nothing to rush to. So, I was making the most of it.

While continuing to stroll through, I had gotten some Bananas, seaweeds, and a kind of seashell which we call here "Aninikad". I was really having a great time at the market. I enjoyed the time so much. Also, I sweat a lot, which really felt good.

I was glad that I get myself time for a market morning walk and stroll. It was more than just a highlight of my week. It was giving me time to slow down for a moment and breathe. Yes, this might just be a simple stroll, but for a person like me who I said is like living at a rocket pace, it was a breath of fresh air. I was refreshed and energized.

It also made me proud to have been able to defeat the tired and too-lazy-to-do-chores wolf in me. Yes, I am one with what is said that 90% percent of our decision is based on how we feel, and I couldn't be any prouder that no matter how beat I was at that day, I got up and did what I did.

It indeed was a rewarding day! Hoping for more simple wins like this.

That's all for now! Thank you for giving it your time! Keep safe! See you in the next one.
