I hate automatic cars, but it gets harder and harder to get a "normal" car in our company when I need one, but the colleagues know that I need 3 pedals, and sometimes they make fun with me by giving me keys for an automatic and I notice it only when I already sit in it 🤣 !LOLZ

Third pedal haha, replacing clutch plates is an expensive exercise. Safer for me in auto which I know how to manipulate to get the best out of, also with heavy traffic makes life easier.
Before I had a license 45 years ago (had to learn on manual), excellent salesman said automatic was the future, we bought Opel 1.4 automatic and she lasted 14 years. When I got my license went straight into auto. All cars that followed were second hand for myself and fortunately always ended up being auto.
Hubby and sons have always drive manual they can have it, Unless you fortunate enough to work in same area, same hours it is impossible to share a vehicle here.
Eldest son and I will share this vehicle, he uses it in his small business during the week, then I can enjoy over weekends.

Never had to replace the clutch plates in any of my cars - maybe I drive different or it's the heat you have down there 😉
All people here say if you drive it you will love it, but I have driven it and I didn't love it. Maybe if we don't have any "normal" cars anymore in our company I will have to drive more and will get used of it.
My son also uses my car to go to work and meet friends and ... and I get it sometimes when he doesn't need it 🤣 !LOLZ

Manual drive definitely you have more control, auto is easier in heavy traffic conditions and town driving.
Running/buying vehicles here a costly affair trying to minimize as best we can.
Knowing there is a car in the garden I am able to use makes me feel better should an emergency arise I will be able to drive it.

Often when both our cars are not at home I think what might be if I would have to get somewhere urgently. So I agree, it's a good feeling to have a vehicle at home, ready to go if needed.

Automatic is an easy step when you have the manual experience under the belt. You can hear the gears and change with a slight kick-down when needed to change in a hurry for additional speed, like sucking a lolly!
It's the drivers on the road today that is the worry 😂, in an emergency I don't think I will be too worried though...

I also think that in an emergency I would care a lot of the other drivers as long as I get to where I want.
