Well it's that time of year again. Spring has sprung and the crazy wild daffodils are out again in full bloom. They come out every February and March in Northern France to mark the begining of spring.

They've been out for close to a month now. I started seeing them around the begining of February and have been taking photos of them every few days on our walks with the dog.

They tend to look better on sunny days though, when the sunlight hits the yellow flowers and really makes them shine.

I had this silly idea that I was going to lay down in them and take a picture, sort of a re-enactment of the scene in the movie American Beauty with the girl and the rose petals.

But then I remembered that it's also tick season so it's probably not a very good idea to roll around in the dead leaves of the forest.

You'll have to just use your imagination and and picture me laying in a bed of wild daffodils.
On a completely different note, today I found out that we have a pig living in our back yard. A wild boar actually.

I must have startled him while I was filling up our bird feeder this morning because he ran out of a thorny brambles bush on our property. He headed into the forest that backs onto our lot.

He (or she) was brown and hairy and about the size of a mid-size dog.

I had seen signs of it for weeks now. It has completely torn up the grass searching for food on the second tier of our lot. I originally thought it looked like boar signs but figured it was just a skunk digging for grubs. I didn't think a boar would come on our property with our dog here but I was wrong of course.

Between this boar and the moles on the property our backyard lawn it turning out be more of a dirt pit. Pretty soon we aren't going to have any grass left.

I've heard boar in the ravine at night, grunting and squeeling so I guess I should have known, not that I can really do anything about it anyway.
Moving on...

Here are a few more shots of flowers in bloom that were taken on our walks in the forest.

They're just a small thing really, but I think flowers can sometimes really brighten a person's day.

At times when the world is so chaotic, sometimes it's nice to stop and enjoy the little things in life, like flowers and sunshine.

Dude this is fucking incredible I was checking on https://hivestats.io/@leaky20 and you made like 1100 USD this month, brother this is a salary!! I am so happy for you, it would be someone else I would insult them, but it's my boy, so I am so proud haha.
I am sure you must be so happy, the wife now can finally say that you also have a job hahaha 😃
Oh really? That's good to know.
Thanks for the support. I appreciate it man. Its not easy to post 4-5 times a week. Its a lot of work. But its nice that Hive rewards that hard work. I have a goal of reaching 10 thousand HP this year. I think it's doable but won't be easy.
Yeah I think you'll reach it by July, you'll see...Good job and congrats!
Oh Leaky, this is absolutely gorgeous. I would teleport there to see that! I love daffodils! They are one of my absolute favourites. I've never see blankets of them like in your photos and it quite took my breath away.
That wild boar of yours looks like it will fast become a nuisance with that mess it's making. They are rather aggressive animals so I'd keep your dog well clear of it until it moves off, although by the look of it, it seems to have made itself quite at home.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your week, it's definitely worth taking some time out of the chaos to enjoy the prettier things in life, those views you have absolutely count!
Cheers
Andy
Yeah the daffodils are pretty neat. This area has a ton of them for some reason. I'm not sure why. These were seen by my house but I also see them through the trees in other forests while driving on the highway.
You're right, the boar is quite the nuisance at the moment. I'll keep that in mind about keeping the dog away. The boar seems to hide in the forest during the day though and the dog is in the house at night so it should be okay. Thanks for the concern and thanks for the comment. 😁
:D
done :))
It IS crazy how many of them are around! I als¡most couldn't believe my eyes what your photos are showing!
Couldn't agree more with this!
Lmao 🤣
Yeah there's so many it's crazy. When I first saw them when we arrived a few years ago I was shocked as well. I've never seen so many wild flowers in one place before. Poppies are like that in June here also.
must be beautiful with poppies too!!
This is so gorgeous! The abundance of daffodils is such a beautiful time of year and you captured it in all of its glory! Even though there are other flowers that pop before them, it is the coming of the daffy that gives me thrill! (OMG! I think I rhymed! Who knew?) I absolutely love this and I can imagine you laying on the forest floor, getting the best angles.
You clearly have some of the best forest pictures and I appreciate you sharing them! Bluebells next!
Holy Moly! You don't need a rototiller anymore, do you? They have ripped up that yard well. I had gophers do it to my yard once. It was so hard to get rid of them!!!
Here the daffodils seem to be the first major flower of spring and then comes white and pink tree blossoms and then tulips in April. I'll look out for the bluebells next. I'm not sure if we have them here though.
Yeah the yard is a mess from the pig and moles. Gophers would probably be bad as well. I imagine they would be very hard to get rid of. The moles will move on once I start mowing the lawn at least, so that's a plus.
There are bluebells in France, but, nearly half of the bluebells in the world are British! The Spanish bluebells are stockier and more robust, so hybrids have been planted instead of wild bluebells during the past 200 years.
Road trip! The UK's forest/woodlands have almost 50% of the global population!
That's interesting. I didn't know any of that. I'll have to look out for them.
The boar and the moles have sure made a mess of your back lot,
but I am focusing on all those daffodils so beautiful and often the firts sign of spring,
I havent seen any here yet, but sure they will be coming soon
Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)
Yeah they are really doing a number on the yard. When I start mowing the grass again the moles will move on but I have to get rid of the mounds to be able to mow. Its a process lol.
Yeah the flowers are a welcome sign of spring 😀
Yeah I can imagine its going to be hard work filling in all the holes
That last shot of forsythia and blue blue sky is breathtaking!
I had no idea a boar could do that kind of damage. It's the size of a dog?! This makes me glad I live in a town, with a tiny yard that can be controlled down to almost the finest detail. Groundhogs are probably the worst thing I will have to contend with, but a pair of those can damage a tiny garden in the blink of an eye.
I'd love to see that shot of you laying in the daffodils lol. Maybe I don't need a shot, the vision I have already is quite amusing!
Thanks for directing me to this post. I enjoyed it.
Yeah I saw it one more time after this post and it was quite big, probably 200lbs at least, so maybe a bit bigger than a dog - fatter anyway. I think it has moved on since but yes, they rummage around for food and really tear the ground up.
We used to see a hedgehog regularly in the yard as well but I haven't seen him/her in about a year now. I didn't know that they could damage grass but I'm guessing it's while looking for grubs - kind of like a skunk would do.
Haha yeah it would have been funny.🤣
So beautiful! Our daffodils here are white, I ve never seen yellow ones..
That's funny because I only ever knew of the yellow ones but I've started to see some that are yellow and white, which I thought was very different. I don't recall ever seeing a fully white one so that's interesting.
Check out these ones! I took this photo yesterday to show you!
Nice! Those are great looking. They look a lot bigger than the wild ones in the forest. Thanks for sharing 😁
Wild daffodils look very beautiful, as if neatly arranged.
Haha yeah that's true 😄
Thanks for sharing the fields of forested daffodils. Never seen that many together.
Yeah it's a lot in one place!
Wow… so many daffodils 🌼 beautiful.
Everywhere spring blossom too.
Thanks for sharing @leaky20
Yeah there is a crazy amount. Too many to count that's for sure.
🌼 😊 🌼
E vero e pazesco. Grande fotografo.
Thanks!
This is crazy indeed ,am very sure that it will very hard to fill the hole
Yes I agree on both accounts
This forest full of daffodils is amazing, it looks like spring is coming and nature is coming back to life.
Yes it's a nice time of year :)
Hi, the beauty of natural charm
Yeah, spring! 😁
