Walking Around Town

in Wednesday Walk4 days ago

The weather where I'm from has been pretty wild lately. Erratic and unpredictable. I guess thats spring for you in Canada.

Spring Flowers in the backyard

Temperatures here have reached upwards of 20+ degrees Celsius for a few days only to drop down into the negatives just days later. It's been sunny one day and snow the next at times. The first two photos (above and below) were literally taken within 24 hours of each other!

Snow storm at work

Today as I write this the temperature out is negative 2 degrees Celsius and very cold with the wind chill. The general trend has been a little warmer overall though, so we have been walking our dog a lot more these days.

Town Hall

The town we live in is a small subsection of a much larger city. It's kind of like a suburb not not really. It's not a sprawl, but more of it's own thing that over time expanded all around to eventually connect with the main city to become one. Like a city village really. It still has a small town sort of feel which we really like.

Church with Unique Architecture

There are a few historic homes and building in the small downtown but more and more are being bought and torn down and renovated. It would be a shame if it lost all of its quaint character.

On weekends we like to walk to the downtown area and pick up coffees and desserts for the evening from a local bakery. There are a few coffee shops in town but the one we like is a French bakery. It's nothing like what we experienced in France mind you. The quality isn't as good, the selection is a bare minimum and the price is exorbitant in comparison to that of any bakery in France. But as I've said before, you have to make due with what you've got.

The walk is on the slightly longer side then our standard day to day stroll, so we often carry the dog in his backpack on the way there and then make him walk back for the exercise.

These photos were actually taken last year in the early fall but they show the route that we take when heading downtown.

It goes along the street and then cuts through a residential area and ends up at a church with a small cemetery out back.

In the evening when the sun is low it casts a nice golden hue on the grave stones.

From there we take an outdoor walking - biking path that cuts through a green space between neighborhoods.

The whole walk generally takes us about 40 minutes total so it's not over long or strenuous.

Well thats it for now. Until next time, thanks for stopping by.

Sort:

The area looks green and lush.
I guess it's crazy weather everywhere, and I started to think that spring was a myth. Fingers crossed that we'll have bright, pleasant days filled with sunshine soon:)))

I agree! Bring on the sunny nice weather 😎👌

Spring is so crazy and unpredictable

such cool shots and I think the weather patterns all over the world are messed up, and here is no exception like for you it has been all over the place

Thanks for joining the Wednesday
Have a great day

Yeah, weather is always quite sporadic and unpredictable in the early spring in Canada but this year seems slightly more extreme. I guess these types of weather patterns come in cycles though.

Thanks! Have a great day as well

The same here lately… crazy weather all together. Warm and back to freezing and more snow.
I am still waiting for spring haha
Great little walk around. Especially the graveyards. I like going/ wandering over them.
Have an awesome day!

Yeah early spring is always all over the place with the weather. Great quote about the weather by Nick Cage's character in the movie The Weather Man.

"it's just wind. It's wind. It blows all over the place! What the fuck!"

😂

Haha that is a great quote!
Let’s hope it calms down a bit. Since I got up it is snowing heavily. It could continue until Sunday. So a big layer of fresh snow is expected. Today up to 10 cm again. Hope it is the last one now. As it just started to defrost and some paths in the garden were snow free… not much longer now. !LOL

Wow that's a lot of snow! Hopefully it stops soon. Snow is nice but it hits a point where it's like "enough is enough, I was sun and heat now" 😂

Yes, it does look beautiful. Everywhere fresh powder… no tracks, only me walking to the bird feeder.
Yes, and I think I definitely reached that point as it started 1 novemeber here. It is longggg…
Will have to go on holidays 😎

Winter is a beautiful time. But cold and long. A holiday is nice to break it up a little.

It does… I am planning to go in 2 weeks to the Med. So some warmth for a while…
Can't wait, it will take me 3 planes to get there… so worth it though.
Have a great day.

Elevator jokes are the best
They just work on so many levels.
